How to make food sticks like these?

Featured Replies

I'm not starting my own food line. If I had more time for it, it would be nice to do I guess, but this is only for myself. So they don't have to be perfect like these, but I would like to make food like this:

Is there anybody who knows how to make these pads?

Why I want this. Well I feed them all kind of stuff, but it would be handy to mix for example nettle and spinach to almost powder and create pads like this that you can keep for a year or more.

I do have all kind of brands, but I thought that it would be fun to create it myself.

Do I need a press machine or something? Tips are welcome!

I know of a couple members on here that make their own foods from time to time, well worth a go and a nice little project.

Ok, looking forward to an answer of them.

I know already how to make the round sticks. Not pretty, but it works. I got a tip from someone to use a big syringe. This works ok. But I would like to create these flat tabs, so the surface is bigger and more shrimp can eat at the same time.

Also I wonder, should you put it in the oven or let it dry by air?

I THINK from memory some put them in the oven actually.

...actually, from memory, the little blocks are made from putting the mixture into a tray, made, cooked, then cut up while in the tray, I think.

Fettuccine pasta machine would cut into long, fat strips that can be cut into pads.

Momma Mia!!!

If you are making the food up using agar or a similar binding agent:

Put four paddle pop sticks onto a flat surface. Another flat object (glass works well) sits on the paddle pop sticks creating a thin flat area in between the two flat surfaces.

pour the food onto the bottom surface and then press down with the top surface until it is sitting  on the paddle pop sticks and then let the food cool. Once it is set, you can slice it up into squares. You can adjust the thickness of the food by adding more/less paddle pop sticks as required.

I made mine on a tray and using the agar agar recipe then once it was set I use a pizza cutter to cut thin long strips and then just cut to size once again using the pizza cutter. very easy.

OR, you could use the Miracle Blade III knife set to cut them, but that's not all!!! If you call within the next 5 minutes, we'll include not 1, but 2 Miracle Knife Sets with free postage, but the savings don't stop there, we'll also include not one, not two but 3 Veggetti Spiral Vegetable Cutters for FREE! Thanks a lot people. The spaghetti machine seems to be a nice tool to create my own food. A simple machine will work. But if I could choose, I took this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXtm_eNaIwQ

I have enough info so far. I will let you guys know when the first production has begun :D

I want one
