    An initial large water change of 50% is probably required to get rid of as much built up waste as possible. Then drip back in the water matched to ideal parameters for your shrimp. You can maintain it thereafter with a 3L (5%) to 6L (10%) fortnightly water change - depending on TDS readings. Even if they don't breed over winter, the regular water changes can't do any harm.
