That looks very smart and the tanks look like they were custom made to fit! The shelves look quite substantial so hopefully they can support the weight. I am probably the last person to be talking about the cycle, but shouldn't you have something in the tank to start it cycling, ie plants, maybe some snails, or something??? I could be wrong of coarse??? Hopefully someone else with experience of cycling can advise on this? Its as much a legend to me as 'the flying dutchman'! Looks fantastic setup though! Simon

I filled water today. I set up 3 aquariums with Akadama and benibachi, and the other is full benibachi. I hope the closet is strong :). I'll wait 1 month for the cycle.

On Saturday I wanted 8 ghost shrimp for my betta (he's in a 12 gallon). Mostly for extra cleaner, while also expecting the my betta trying to eat them. After one night, he ate out the eyeballs of 3 shrimp while the remaining 5 seemed to be attacked but not too damaging. Currently they're in a 2.5 gallon tank, no filter, gravel as substrate, 1 moss ball, 2 plastic plants, and a small castle for hiding. For food I put one algae wafer (in tank right now) and plan to put pieces of lettuce or cucumber after a couple of days. My question is, do ghost shrimp need filter? I currently have 5 of them in the 2.5 gallon tank. If they do I'm planning on to get a certain sponge filter that's safe for shrimp and small enough to not cause too much current.

I think they have separated the shrimp into their own small tank but the betta is still in the big tank if I have read it rightly? Simon

In a brackish tank dragon stone should be fine. I think what was being discussed is what my experience with it has been as well -it raises KH and pH of your water. I've yet to get my hands on any that could pass the acid test. Shame too, because it's a beautiful stone and I'd love to use it in my Caridina tanks.

Yeah, we have the original 28l tank, which we removed Mum from, we have the 11l tank she is currently in. We have a 2 litre tank which be brackish and used by the babies until Mum has finished dumping her load (then we'll make that brackish and put the babies in there), then I have an empty 250l "Shrimptopia" with nothing in it. x
