Thanks all, I'm new to Shrimp keeping. Got my first shrimp early last year sometime and well let's just say I was hooked and now have a couple of tanks. ?Look forward to learning more about these fascinating creatures.

This is my almost final setup. I have a Christmas moss low power hang on filter UV sterilizer hang on biological filter zoomed Hi output T5 light (was used for my turtles before) Black Earth premium soil ADA Power sand advance i'm just looking for another moss to put along the back, I will add the co2 and water cooler once the tank is stable.

pH needs to be tested, not everytime, but occasionally to ensure that your pH does not crash below 6. Try to keep it above 7.0 for the duration of the cycle. You can lower it after the cycle is done, and you have a healthy colony of BB.

That shrimp does have stunning colour and even the other one is pretty good. The best colour one looks like a female to me. They are very good photos I think. There can't be anything wrong if you are getting babies and they survive to adulthood. When I tried tap water with crystal shrimps I would get a few babies but they died within a few weeks unfortunately. I now use a zerowater filter jug to filter the tapwater and that produces RO water. Shrimps are prolific breeders so by using tap water you may even have the advantage of not getting 'too many babies' which is the usual problem.............. Simon
