Continuing on.... a close up of the bladder type snails A close up of the pretty tadpole The closest id I can get for this tadpole is the Giant Barred Frog, but as far as I can tell they should not be in Central Queensland but rather further south in South East QLD and into NSW. Hardyhead? I am sure its a hardyhead but not the fly specked I usually encounter. I will try to get some better clearer shots of it today One of the snails I did collect I did collect another snail that has a flat spiral shell, but am still trying to get some picture of it that do it justice. We were being watched from high overhead by a pair of wedgetails, And the surprise at Turkey Beach.... a frill neck, I have not seen one in over 20 years so I was excited about seeing this big guy on the road. As you can see he did not appreciate my interest in him LOL

So after a long day (ended up going to Turkey Beach as well as out west) I am finally home and awake enough to get some pictures up. The creek is called Bells Creek on Rainbow Mountain Road, its gravel the whole way and eventually pops out at the back of Callide Mine Boundary Hill. There is multiple creek crossings most were very similar plant wise, some where dry and others had obvious pig activity and cows had access to all the water courses. The water was crystal clear in most of the creeks but silted up quickly as soon as you stepped into the water or tried to net a fish This crossing was teeming with fish that from what I could make out where a mix of rainbows and some type of hardyhead. But they where very skittish Lots of these snails on some of the rocks, but since they looked like bladder snails I didn't bother collecting any There where cane toad tadpoles but also these pretty little tadpoles, I will check my frog book later to try and confirm their id. Very good at blending in There where also gudgeons (purple spot I believe) A macro even showed itself and I found what looked like glass shrimp in the thick plants Hardyhead? No real idea what this fish is, there where quite a lot and no matter what angle I saw them on they had the bright fluro orange colouration. I tried catching them but they where too quick for me. Stay tuned for stage two.... the snails that I did collect a fish that originally I thought was another flyspecked hardyhead but closer insepection it seems to be another type and a surprise at Turkey Beach

They are a great idea. If you are going to run a sponge filter in the tank, then one of these will provide more surface area for beneficial bacteria over a normal sponge filter. There is only one brand that I am aware of = Biospon. There might be other no name imitations around though. No drawback that I am aware of. I wonder if @Disciple can arrange a group buy for us from Singapore?

It might seem silly to even mention, but was the cap thoroughly washed (multiple rinses with good agitation) too? Other things I've done - too many drops (one snuck by too fast, I zoned out, I forgot), used the wrong test fluid.

Thanks Dimos and Revolutionhope. I am understand that many shrimp keeper want to have a beauty aquarium with ornamental fish and shrimp swim together with peace, I know, cause I did it past ago ?. But, as i stated above, please be patient and never thing again about that if Your purpose not just to have shrimp in aquarium, but want to have peacefull colony of shrimps, in my experience, even otocinclus, must be really veggie fish, can disturb the shrimps, even can make shrimplets "shocked" become shy, hiding along the days (maybe cause fear). For now, I even thinking why I keep fish like otocinclus to my shrimp colony only to eat algae, cause the shrimp is algae eaters too :( if You want keeping shrimp with snails, I don't see much problem with it, as long as not too much snails. attention, sorry for My English :D

Hi I have a problem identifying 2 plants I grew by seeds bought at Hong Kong. They were sold to me as cuba and glosso seeds, but it appears they are not.... I think the 2 first pics are showing Hemianthus Micranthemoides, instead of hemianthus callitricoides "cuba". The last one, sold to me as glossostigma ellatenoides seeds, I dont know

Wish I could help more but I don't think I've seen those before. Doesn't look like Cuba or Micranthemoides. Any ideas SKF gurus?

oh if there the same as spotlight then it doesnt matter, i can just pick some up for couple of bucks, but if it is flimsy and started degrading thats not good... degrading how? this is what i found, is it the same? oh wow, so you can just use any tank moss and it will be fine? you said you applyed it to wood, did it stick fine? is it hard to get off?

I tried this out and what i did was get some SS mesh from the LFS. I tied a couple of suction cups onto it and then just tied moss to it. Stuck on the side of the aquarium and it was fine.

Love bucephalandra.... I have a few varieties..unnamed I run 2 bps co2 under medium light.......getting reasonably fast growth i don't fert as I have CRS and rillis in that tank fave is mini Catherine (I think) atm
  15. Disciple
great collection lodo. You going to collect them all?

Updated light to azoo flexi mini, looks great. Also added up aqua nano c02, 1 bubble every 5 seconds (only during lights on) and will be getting Ada ferts during the week to hopefully boost the growth/health/colour of the plants. Shrimplets are looking good, hopefully all the extra stuff for the plants doesn't effect them

Also picked up some new buce yesterday. Got metallic blue, and a new brownie ghost. Got it from same person as our other ghost and he thinks it's a different variety, so see how it grows :)

Decided to up the ferts a bit in this tank. Dosing with the flourish fundamentals range http://www.seachem.com/Products/product_pages/PlantPackFund.html See if growth picks up at all.

I looked up Profito by easylife, and yes, you're right it does have potassium, but the website I looked at doesn't show the amount. You might still be lacking potassium, as it does get used up by plants fairly quickly. Try dosing at the roots so it's not spread around.
  23. Wraithie
I like profito because it has both macro and micro nutrients. Ill work on the more direct feeding method. Cheers Dr Plant!

Since everyone liked that pro-tip, I should add that you want to dilute the fertiliser before squirting it in the substrate at the roots. I've never squirted undiluted ferts, but my imagination says that it might be too concentrated for the plant. So I always dilute it in tank water first, in a plastic cup (ex Macca sundae cup  ), syringe some up and squirt into the substrate.
