Lucas Bretz. I don't know if he has any photos anywhere other than on FB... He does have Youtube as well. This is his Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/lbknuggs Which has a link to his own FB group where he documents what's going on in his fish/shrimp room. Some photos of his. Lucas mentioned he also has two tanks of "wild" neos, and they aren't necessarily just brown. They can have green, blue, red or yellow hues to them. I came across someone who kept yellows with cherries. All offspring brown/wild type. I kept a couple of yellows (a 'pair') with a small cherry colony and so far, I've only gotten red or yellow offspring. Granted, the yellow adults are gone now, and I haven't seen any yellow offspring make it to adult-hood, so I don't think I have any yellows left? Someone else had a yellow female with male cherry, and has gotten brown/black, dark blue (almost black with cream stripe), and even cherries with a yellow hue to them.

The tank now has 8 discus and 2 rams (from @jc12! they look amazing!). I've picked up a Aqua Illumination AI PRIME HD (big thanks to Age Of Aquariums!) to see if that fixes the growth issues, i feel like there just isn't enough light getting to the plants that are having issues. so ill see how this improves the situation, I'll be putting in on tonight so I'll update with pics of how it looks. I've also ordered 10 Adolfi Corydoras and 30 cardinal tetras so soon it should really look like a fish tank rather then just a plant tank.

The general rule of thumb is that if it's big enough to fit in their mouth it's going to get eaten. That said, I've kept my choc cherries with endlers without much issue in the past. They were breeding so much I probably didn't notice juvi's going missing. On the other hand, those same endlers chomped away at my sulas. AFAIK, the only shrimp safe fish is the otto. I understand, in some cases having fish in the same tank is unavoidable. In those cases, you have do what you can to ensure the shrimp and the juvis have sufficient hiding places that the fish can't get in to. Looking at the size of those tetras, once they get the taste of shrimp, there won't be any going back.

Yeah, or you could re-home the shark instead, they are notoriously aggressive and territorial fish and often won't tolerate others of their species (or conspecies) either. Rehoming the shark seems like it'd be the easier solution anyway. How big is your tank again?

Who are you referring to? Id like to see purple neos! And also yellow with red?! I kept a tank of cherries, goldback, and orange Sakura for a while and just sold the whole lot to someone on a different forum. They threw mostly reds and oranges as well as some interesting green neos for a few generations, although they didn't stabilize and just ended up breeding out yellows. You'll notice there are a couple brown shrimp in there. Surprised I had only a few as I added in ransoms when I had them (pearls, velvets, red rilis, Orange rilis, etc)

I have White Clouds, Neon Tetras and Oto's in with my red cherries. Of course, some babies and eggs will get eaten, but the population steadily grows and I am always find babies / mid sized shrimp who have grown up in the tank. Other small fish may also work - ember tetras, mosquito/chili rasoboras, drawf rasbora etc. I have generally found that fish that do not grow more than 3cm tend to leave the adults alone - so thats my general rule of thumb without any scientific evidence! As @NoGi rightly points out, no fish/shrimp combination is 100% safe or foolproof, however the smaller and/or timid the fish, the less chances there probably are for them to all be eaten. Providing plenty of plants and stones/wood for the shrimp to hide in and around always help.

I was playing around with my camera settings this morning and then edit options on the computer and got these photos of the small Narrows snails with turban shells. I knew these guys had a little trapdoor but at least now I can see more clearly just how the trapdoor fits to the shell as well as the shell openings shape. These little guys have really got me stumped on what exactly they are and even where to look for correct identification, aside from sending some off to the Queensland Museum and hoping somebody there can identify or confirm if they have been described previously. Opening up after being disturbed And Vadnappa, congratulations on the possible breeding of the Essington snails, I did have some at one point but alas they didn't like my tanks.

Hey guys, I have been meaning to do this review for a while now but well I'm lazy! So here it is finally! First I will talk about how I prepare the shrimp gel, directions recommend a 1 part repashy to 3 parts water but I prefer 1:2and a bit as I don't want the gel to fall apart too easily once in tank. Add the Repashy powder in a mixing container (remember how much you put in so you can add water accordingly) and then mix in other powders, vitamins, etc...you would like. I mixed in spirulina powder, bladderwrack powder, Cracked cell wall pine pollen powder, Nettle powder, Barley Grass, Vitamins, Bee pollen, Kale, Also you can add things like "White Up/Red Up if you want", basically anything that is used for shrimp. Once you have in all the ingredients you wish, boil up some water and add in the ratio that suits you (as said I like it around 1part repashy to 2-2and1/2 water) and mix quickly (you may want to hold your breath here as this stuff stinks bad!), then pour into a mould or like me just a sandwich bag before it starts to set. Then roll it out Place the finished product in fridge to set just like jelly. Once set just break off a bit each time to feed to shrimp. They love the stuff! Note: Do not make too much at once as it will go off like any other food (I use 2 table spoons at a time)...Keep refrigerated or I like to keep mine in the freezer (it will last at least few weeks without going bad). If this has been helpful please thank/like the post! Cheers Chi.
