its great to see people actually updating there journals! tanks looking good dude, keen to see it progress more!
  6. FMuscle
I know this journal is in dire need of updates. For now, I can't (or won't) say much. I have been shuffling things around a bit, the hex tank still has my shrimps in it, but they lost the croc. They gained a few plants for now, I've been moving plants back and forth between tanks ( @Disciple thanks again for the hairgrass, but that thing refuses to stay put! haha) I had misadventures with my ember tetras, I'm down to 6 from 16, I will not restock them. I'm open to other suggestions for tankmates for my cherries. Including input on my previous post ^^^. I guess I can share a pic or two... hahaha What's a coffin without bones? Or skulls?
  7. Unagi42
Hey mate, all readings at normal but pH was a bit high at around 7.6. I have done a bunch of water changes and put a fresh dozen cherries in and they seem happy enough to berry so we'll see how it goes. One of the old stock next to newbies.

I'll just leave this here... It's due for an update, but it's not quite ready for one yet.

Just bought an Eheim 150 watt heater. Will buy a cannisters filter when I get back from a holiday in April. The second stage of the tank will begin!! Been there, done that?
  10. FMuscle
Oh yes they poop. Great plant fertiliser!

Shrimp and small/nano fish in a 6ft? Somehow this sounds familiar...
  12. jayc
I'm not sure if I'm looking at the right thing, but those brown flecks don't look like a bug. Do you only have RCS in the tank? No fish?

@Unagi42 I have gold vine in my tank and the shrimp graze on it. I agree with @ineke that it initially has slime all over it but it clears up pretty quickly. Water parameters will tell a story about what is happening in your tank.
  14. Disciple
Hello @Unagi42 Did you test your water parameter at the time the adults were dying? Also what are your water parameters currently? It will help us give you a reason for the deaths.

It looks like gold vine , I found it secreted or got covered in a white slime when first put into a tank but the slime is harmless to shrimp. Mine cleared up within a month - I had boiled and soaked it before putting it in the tank and had been assured it was shrimp safe. I never had any issues with the shrimp. - some seemed to graze on the slime. The vines are 3 years old now and still very good.

I also trimmed the sunset hygro - Went from 5 stems to 10! All about 3/4 height of the water now. Looking much thicker on the right hand side!

That's my room as it stands today ! 11 tanks Disciple plus my big one in the lounge ?? . The room still looks the same only difference is the lighting and the addition of a reverse cycle air conditioner @larrymull I love the mixed bag the Taitibees give. I am disappointed that they are reverting to the pure lines but I'm hopeful that adding some fresh Tiger genes will fix that. On the other hand I love the TB patterns I'm getting
  18. ineke
So now to the room again . Tank 1 is now a CRS tank . I will work to improve the quality and grades of these guys Tank 2 is my new Pinto colony Tank 3 is my Taitibee Bluebolts Tank 4 is my pure TB line Tank 5 is my 2015 juvi tank of Taitibees with a couple of adults that I kept. There are some interesting babies in there still a bit small to photograph but I'm hopeful of some interesting shrimp in there

Another year has passed and I haven't updated this thread in that time. I'm not sure why a lot of the pictures are missing but I think it has something to do with the forum upgrade so I will put a few new ones up today. lots has happened over the last 12 months with my Taitibees giving me some great shrimp. I have traded and given away a lot of them and kept the babies for this year's projects. A slight change in direction now.
  20. ineke
Thought that now i'm im the photo taking mood I would show just a few inhabitants of the tanks. CBS and some Mischling babies Blue F2 Tibee and a baby CRS Mischling Mischling babies Mischling in the snow

Revolutionhope I left my shrimp for 7 weeks with someone coming once a week to top up the water, pop a bit of food in which I left in those plastic medication doses containers ( Webster packs) then I had frozen mulberry leaves that my daughter in law put in if the ones in the tank were eaten and I put snow and barley pellets in the tanks. I think they could have gone maybe 2 weeks before needing food and now if we go away for 2 weeks or less I don't even bother to get them checked I just leave the snow and mulberry leaves in the tanks- we travel a lot.
  22. ineke
The tanks have just been trimmed and also because of the mirror backs it's a bit hard to get a front view without seeing the camera and me in the back ground. They aren't landscaped for looks just for breeding and seeing the shrimp. /
