Gday SKFers, I hope you didnt miss me too much while I was away. It was a long 2 weeks away from my shrimps and I was a little worried to see what I would find when I got back. It seems my shrimp have not done so well... They did Great! My sister did a good job.

so... i decided retie my moss on the wood, i did this 5 days ago, and it looks like its already dying but i dont know why since all the other moss in the tank is doing fine. the only thing what is abit weird is it look like its turning white, not brown all i can think is, that its to much light for it, maybe it was undergrowth that i put there and it doesnt like it? or is it just super fast growth? i thought that be lighter green though thoughts?

I tried to organise a return and when I did so the lfs staff asked me some technical questions (as requested by the company oz sales rep) including but not limited to "is there water flowing through the unit?" I didn't realise the water had to go THROUGH the chiller !! I just had it sitting next to my aquarium!! No wonder it wasn't working !!! So anyway ... sarcasm aside I eventually managed to organise a return on the unit and have got a replacement now. For the time being I will reserve my judgement on its performance. Yesterday I received my second chiller - a hailea hc-300 and it is just awesome !!! The unit is quite big.. not excessively loud in my opinion.. just sounds like a fairly chunky room-fan but with a lower pitch (ie no constant grinding or clunking mechanical compressor noise). In any case it is extremely efficient. Powered by an eheim 2217/classic 600 which is empty bar a coarse sponge and some loose (uncloggable) media. It cooled down my 240litre tank from 28C (in a room at nearly 32C) to 24C within an hour or two. I was most impressed. Here's hoping my yellow cherries are equally impressed and enjoy their newfound stability. love n peace will PS it dawned on me last night that we just spent more on a chiller than we did on our family fridge.

I've been wandering in the south of New Caledonia. Could not find the secret spot of my buddy for the zebra, but I found a spot where there are these ones: Except the guy in front, a carbon rili male, the others are what I think to be "caridina nuova-caledonia" . They have a whitish/creamy headgear and some color line on the back, some with blueish body, some with redish body, and even one have white stripes... Very nice!

Just read through and realised I had a bunch of subwassertang growing in a tub that's covered in biofilm.... Dropped a bit into one of my breeder boxes and they swarmed it within minutes!

Came back home from holiday and a parcel was there waiting for me. Thank you again SKF and Jamie@newbreed for the awesome prize. Also appreciate the extras too. :) Here it is over two of my 2ft tanks.
