Thank you! Greetings from California! Just spent the last 3 hours reading multiple threads and gathering infor for my upcoming shrimp rack. I will post a journal in the next couple weeks :)

I think the Worx LEDs from our sponsors are pretty suitable for what you have described. They are relatively cheap and would do what you want i.e. grow moss, algae and biofilm. As for efficient I think it depends if you are after a low energy LED light or a cheap value for money + good output light. I don't think Worx LEDs are necessary low energy lights but again it depends on what you are comparing them with. Alternatively I would suggest 5050 or 5630 DIY strip LEDs.

I run mine 24/7 and only turns them off when medicating especially if dosing instructions say so e.g. when I was using Chemiclean for BGA.

Yeah something like that, small sub-tropical species. Something you could do for lights is get these waterproof LED strip people put on their headlamps and fit them out of sight under the rim...

SHARKS! It's pretty limited in terms of stocking... Nothing that gets too big, nothing that tends to jump, I would stick with nano- or small fish, some shoaling species. It's a nice size, but shame you can only see from the top... Emergent growth would be great in the corners imo.

You seem to have everything you need to start, except maybe a product that will re-mineralise the RO water. You can mix it with tap water to get the right TDS. Or get a product similar to Salty Shrimp GH+. You can use MK Breed Blue Diamond, if you want to stick to that brand. Africana can reduce pH very low, which makes it hard to cycle a completely new tank. Do you have access to a mature filter, so you can use the old filter media and its established bacteria? Apart from that, just add everything into a tank, flood it and wait for it to cycle. Add substrate, add MK Breed Z silver powder and MK Breed Gold on the top level of the substrate, add water and filter, heater, and wait. But like I said, Africana can make cycling longer, due to the big drop in pH. Best to use Africana with a mature filter.

I set my heater for 22degC (or maybe it's 21). While my Chiller is set to 23. So anything below 21 and the heater kicks in. Anything above 24 and the chiller kicks in.

I currently have both a Hailea and a Resun running different tanks and both are cooling the tanks well. The only difference between them is that Hailea kicks in when temperature hits 1 degree Celsius above the set temperature while Resun kicks in at 2 degree Celsius above set temperature. All things being equal, Hailea kicks in more often but takes less time to cool the tank down 1 degree Celsius to the set temperature while Resun kicks in less often but takes a longer time to cool 2 degree Celsius to the set temperature. Overall, Hailea tank temperature fluctuates 1 degree Celcius while Resun tank fluctuates 2 degree Celsius. Hope this all makes sense. :)

Both Hailea and Resun are of similar quality. It won't be much difference between the two. If you are worried about the reduced flow on your 2213, you can buy the impeller for a 2215 and use that in your 2213 for an extra boost. Yes, it fits. <edit> - @Steve, just wanted to add more to the above. Chillers are big bulky items, it might be wise to look for a local Sydney LFS that might sell them. Check how that seller handles repairs or warranty issues while you are at it. Between Hailea and Resun, I find Hailea better supported with spare parts, so that would be my pick. For a 120L, a Hailea 150A would be enough. TECO chillers are a level up quality wise, as well as price $$.

Apparently the 2213 can work well with a resun650. One of our members recently was telling me that was what he uses on his 3 ft tank. I did a bit of research and ended up getting the resun 650 for my 210 litre tank . We have sponsors here that sell chillers so we can't give you any external links of where else you can buy chillers but you do get a discount for being a member if you use our sponsors. Most of the chillers are now all made in China anyway. I have been keeping my 210 litre cool with 4 computer fans linked to a temperature controller. The tank is in the house but we only have evaporative cooling for the house aircon - except in my shrimp room they have refrigerated aircon but the 210 is in another room- however the fans have kept the water below 24 even with the 44 c temp that we have had here in Adelaide this week . I haven't connected the chiller yet as I'm waiting for some taps to come so can't say how much better a chiller is but I'm sure it will be worth it once it's finally connected.

Just found this thread and seems like you have got lots of help which is great to see. As JayC said definitely get a chiller its better to invest now as down the track you might find that fans will just end up not cutting it. Like you i have a 4ft tank but i opted for a non partitioned as i am only keeping CRS so like them to have the extra room and just maintain the one water perimeters. One thing i didnt see mentioned is adding some sponge filters as well, never anything wrong with extra filtration and the shrimp and shrimplets will graze on the sponge filters. Also in the event of power outage you can run your sponges on a battery operated air pump so you still have some filtration running. MY filtration on my 4ftr consists of an eheim 2000ltr an hour pump going into an aquis 1250 canister then into an aquis 800 canister before returning to the tank through my chiller. I also run 2 dual bui sponge filters as well :)
