Decided to start a journal for the new tank I'm doing. Tank - 20L Nano Tank Substrate - Ocean Free Planting Soil Light - 12W LED 10 Hour Photo Period CO2 - DIY CO2, 2 BPS Fertilizer - Ocean Free Absolute Plant Fertilizer, Weekly Filter - 190 L/H HOB Filter Flora - Blyxa japonica, Eleocharis parvula, Staurogyne repens & Christmas Moss Planted on 27th November I haven't decided on whether to keep the co2 active after adding the shrimp.. But hopefully the plants will be rooted and growing well by then.. I'm planning on using this tank for Red Rilis..

I thought this was too cute to not photograph and share On a side note I have noticed that this snail tends to keep the one antenna curled up, and wonder if that means its potentially a male I did recall reading somewhere that the way to sex notopala species (just not sure if that is all Notopala or just certain ones) by I think it was a modified left antenna.

To breed really well patterned Rilis you need to keep culling heavily and use the best ones you have for breeding. Don't add red cherries as you will get too many without the clear section. Just keep picking out the ones closest to what you want. The colour does develop over time. Alternatively you can try to buy a really good male and use him on your best females. You will need to continue to cull heavily as a percentage of shrimplets will have red stripes, dots and colour on the mid section. I kept my shrimp until they were about 3 months before culling as they developed better colour as they got older. Originally I culled quite young but then found really nice shrimp in the cull tank. Other breeders cull very young that's really up to the individual breeder but unless you cull you keep getting higher percentage of mis marked babies

After seeing one of breeder book shelves/rack (Customs build) I am very impressed with those tank and setup. He has 4 tanks x 3 rows, which really nice. His breeding is about 30x30x20H. I came up with ADA Style Cabinet and adding 2 breeding nano tanks. hoping to get the nano size of 30x30x20 or 30x50x20 The top tank is my current tank 60x40x40 with ADA Aquasky 601 This would be future project, and waiting for approval from the big boss.. ahhaha. Let's talk tank. Advise and idea would be great guys Thanks

So the other day i scored some dexion pallet racking for cheap cheap. So now all my tanks in my house are being moved into my garage. It will be a long and slow process as i'm also planning a wedding and just got a new fulltime job and still working 2 casual jobs. The racking is 45cm deep and almost 3 meters long. My plan is to have a 4ft tank and my normal 2 2ft tanks on the bottom shelf then the top shelf i will have 4 2ftx18inchx18inch tanks. Hoping to get at least 2 divided but still deciding on what to do. At the moment i only have Cherries but yellow, red, red rillis and blues. I'm not dipping my toes in CRS just yet as much as i want to the garage will just get too hot in summer in Canberra. With lighting my top 4 tanks will have the Up aqua pro led Z hanging from the roof. So all up it shall cost me a bit but i will do it slowly. So this is the shelving unit Any advice at all for planning and figuring out what i need would be a real help.

So I was sticky beaking in my native tank and spied most if not all my girls are berried , so here's hoping that shortly not only will I have the notopala babies growing up nicely but also a few generations of various native shrimp. Blackmore I think Easy to identify Chameleon Also easy to ID Darwin Rednose and another And this really full girl that is either a DAS or a local creek shrimp that might in all honesty could be anything

I have been trying to improve my red rili for a while now. I had a big population of about 300+. I picked out the best 10 females and about 5 males and moved them into another tank. Now i am using Ineke's method to continue trying to improve them. I am very harsh on the males. I have kept them at 5 but only keep the best. Good luck

Thanks fishmosy & Unagi42.. I've attached moss in several ways.. I've used cotton treads in places I can easily access, and easy to tie.. I used Super Glue to attach moss on top of the driftwood. On the bottom part, I just stuck it inside crevices of the driftwood. Since it will be a fishless cycle there won't be anyone to pull them out and hopefully it will root before I add the shrimps.

Great setup and quite beautiful. How do you secure the moss to the wood?

Yes you need to get one! I have a small portable unit but I fill a 120 litre wheelie bin and have that on hand all the time just top it up as I use it. It's surprising how much I use but then I have 13 tanks most are 70 litre.
