When I have babies in the tank I mix powdered food with water in a syringe and squirt it into the moss so the babies get enough food. I have seen adults flick babies away from food . If your biofilm in the tank is depleted you will need to feed a bit more. An easy way to make extra is to put some moss in a jar by the window and leave it for a few days then pop it back into the tank - the shrimp will go straight to it. If your aquarium is well established and you don't clean the back and side glass plus leave the lights on for a reasonable time then you should have a good biofilm growth in the tank. I also always have an IAL in the tank as they take a long time to break down and the shrimp will graze on them . I have a large population of shrimp and feed alternate days with commercial or home made foods , I feed powdered food daily when shrimplets are growing and always have a leaf of some kind - besides the IAL - in the tank. I also offer veggies that have been blanched a couple of times a week and feed blood worms at least once a week. All my tanks have a good amount of moss for them to graze on. Some days when I put pellets etc in the tank the shrimp completely ignore them so I siphon them out the next morning. I leave snow in the tank between water changes but siphon it out water change day and put fresh snow back in . I have great shrimplet survival rates with this regime.

My personal favourite tank. It is also going through a population boom haha. Last count 8 berried females there maybe be a few more. I cant wait to see all the shrimplets. Getting closer to the mega colony goal.

I have recently rescaped my two footer which i started this wonderful hobby with almost a year ago. It started as a iwagumi scape with shrimp but quickly became a shrimp tank lol. Due to this I decide to redo the tank over the last couple of months. Currently i have my Oebt colony, blue gene red rili culls and some chamleons. I will be dropping and posting the last of the rili's this weekend and bringing home some additional chamleon. Shout-outs to @Ronskitz for this awesome driftwood. @OzShrimp for some of the nice plants. @newbreed for the moss ledges really like them. I plan on adding a few more plants and mosses but pretty happy with it now. As always please feel free to give me pointers, advise and critique. Cheers.

I am rather excited and wildly optimistic that I have actually managed to spy not 1 but 2 (YAH 2) notopala babies out and about in my spotted blue eye and native shrimp tank. For now they are only tiny wee little tackers that seem to have clear shells, but from what I can make out of them they seem to have the right body form and shell shape to be notopala. I did battle with my demented camera which hates to actually focus on anything small and these are the best photos I could get of these two little snails. If they are little notopalas and they are always clear like this while young, they would be near impossible in the wild to locate unless you happened to find them on a rock or something rather than buried in the mud/silt/ sand. Anyway here they are see what you think these little guys are. and the second one I spotted

Haven't bought spares yet. It will depend on how often you use the unit. Once TDS starts to rise, you will know when it's time to change the RO membrane. I tell myself that I will tolerate TDS going up to 10 before changing.
  9. Ronskitz
Yeah i went with the GT1 and thats never missed a beat

+1 to FSA RO unit. Mine still produces RO water with Zero TDS. I have the GT1-70 DIALK model "DI Aquarium & Drinking Water Combo R/O". But most people would opt for the cheaper GT1-70DI - "Aquarium RO".

hey neo Thanks for the suggestion that would be an easy solution. I think I'd prefer to keep the flow rate inside the actual canister at the same.level if i can because i think it may result in less filtration if i slow the actual LPH down? love n peace will

I also found the website horribly confusing. In the end I just rang him (during business hours ofc) and he kindly explained that I need not spend a lot of money and recommended something very affordable. He was most helpful!

i can recommend ilter systems australia for sure. i waa advised by disciple and others here to go thru them. i got their portable unit with option for aquarium water as well as pH neutral drinking water for around $200 i think. replacement cartridges for maintenance qre pretty inexpensive too. said unit has 2 taps and you can turn on one or the other depending which water you want. with my mains pressure i get more than 10 litres per hour and EC of 4 or 5 last i checked. think it may be a little higher now so i should change the cartridge as I've had it for 6 months ish. the owner at FSA is very friendly, didn't try to upsell me. and happy to talk and.explain things. love n peace will

im nearly algae free! I did a big dino spit spot dose on it all and its clearing up nicly but i burnt some of the moss and i might have pissed off some of the plants a little with it too but they will bounce back and be better for it! The shrimp didnt seem to mind at all, they have been very active after the big dose. Now to get the hair grass to fill out a bit more! I had to block the blue leds to get a good over head pic, all you could see was the led pattern in the first pic i tried haha

My colony is finally starting to recover and grow. Many of the shrimplets have become juvies and young adults. Looking forward for them to start breeding. Is it just me or do OEBT'S seem to grow slower and take longer to mature? Anyways enjoy the pictures. Currently NFS.
