Well I think I may have to finally get around to flooding this thing, just waiting on a few bits and pieces for the co2 setup to arrive. Some rocks have been removed, some added in and some rearranged. The Pogostemon Helferi has been removed as it just didn't fit in with the look I was going for. Apologies for the blurry picture, quick phone snap and the glass is filthy. A reminder of what it looked like 2 months ago

Baccus i have always found the Pacifics' to be more plentiful closer to the confluence of the brackish and fresh water, you might have to take a closer look in and around these areas and hopefully a lack of those nasty crocks. Just let me know which you want to go.

I can definantly cover the cost of postage, and some new blood and extra females would come in very handy.

That would be greatly appreciated, the ones I currently have came at one stage from Live fish but now they are always sold out) so I am guessing they are a southern variety anyway.

you may be confusing Purigen with other zeolite style media, Purigen only removes organic nitrogenous waste. It doesn't impact calcium, potassium or magnesium levels. I have even performed a few experiments in a tub of water out back and it doesn't seem to lower nitrate levels that I have artificially raised with KNO3, but will drop them quickly when high nitrate water from a fish pond is used to raise levels. Not sure how it would distinguish between the organic Nitrogen from fish waste and the Nitrogen added from chemical salts but somehow it seems to!

When i added a thick layer of BEP into a already cycled tank, there was no signs of ammonia.

Just wanted to share some shots of these great little Aussie battlers, unfortunately I am down to what I am pretty sure are two females, but they are real characters and fun to watch.
