Just had to share this little beauty. It is from an F8 Snow White Mischling to an F8 Snow White Mischling. Mother of the Mischlings was a Bluebolt TBM and father was a Panda TB

I have just had a question sent to me regarding my Tibees that went up for auction on SKF. The buyer wanted to know if a few might be pure Tigers I put in by mistake as they were marked differently and had golden (orange) eyes and he and another SKF person reminded me that yellow eyes were recessive and it was therefore highly unlikely that Tibees would have them my lengthy response was this no Tigers in my tanks- they perished last year about June(2014) when I had my shrimp disaster and didn't live with the Tibees- in fact I don't believe the Tigers bred at all in the short time I had them. I have quite a few Tibees with Gold eyes so I either have a strong Tiger gene in the Tibees or your thoughts on recessive eyes may be wrong. I have recently had some Taitibee Yellow Mischlings/Yellow KK with gold eyes show up and have quite a few Blonde Tiger type Tibees roaming around. My lines have been allowed to breed together for about 2 years. Some breeding is Tibee to Tibee so a stronger Tiger gene may have developed. People forget the Tiger gene in the Tibee is as strong as the TB gene initially so by breeding F1 Tibee to F1 Tibee you would expect to get some Tiger traits. Then my F2 Tibees were also allowed to breed to each other in the tanks that I wasn't selectively breeding. Please don't treat them as pure Tiger because they will degrade your Tiger lines- the are Tibee not Tiger regardless of what anyone will tell you. My Tibee lines are Tibee to Tibee, Tibee to TB, Tibee to Mischling, Tibee to CRS, Tibee to CBS, and Tibee to Snow White/Goldens to add more white. Nothing else. My original Tibees came from Ninja (Judy) and BlueBolts (Marcus) and their stock was all related. I wanted to use Tigers to start my own line of Tibees but as I said above they didn't get a chance. So the Tibees you have from me come from a very isolated line with the only fresh genes coming from CRS and CBS. All my original TB and Mischlings came from Judy and Marcus plus a couple of TB from Dean, they were all introduced into my tanks in 2013. Some of the Tibees from Marcus came from his cull tank of "secret" breeding -a joke we had at the time about his special projects. So I am 100% sure of my lines and 100% sure no Tigers were used apart from the original cross to get the F1 Tibee. So there is something for you to research we have all followed the TB side of Tibee but doesn't look like people have done any research on the Tiger side. Hope that clears it up for you. Please I say again they are not pure and never can be. This is the breeding of my Tibee line (for your interest). Is this something we have overlooked? We have all been so busy looking at the Pinto side of Tibees that people have forgotten that breeding Tibee to Tibee can well revert to the original Tiger type. Please be aware if you don't know your breeding stock and it's past generations don't go by looks alone. If you don't know something is 100% pure don't under any circumstances add these to your pure lines- regardless of what someone might think. you can destroy complete lines of pure stock by putting something that looks like a pure line into your tank. Believe me I have some of the most perfect Panda and Kingkong but they are Taitibee and will never go near my pure TB line. Try to find out as much as you can about the breeding of the shrimp you buy.

Howdy ALL A warning for all of you, I have TB from fish it is not like human TB as in it dose not attack your lungs, nor kill you, the ones we have here any way. You get it from guts or skin breaks mostly on your hands, it is way to complex to go into, BUT caught early its not to bad, it will knock you down BUT is fixable easy. It will show up as a sore that wont go away, there is lots more to it that, that but I am going to keep this short. If you have a sore that wont go away easy and you joints feel like krap, that is one warning sign, ask you Doctor to test for fish TB and with the right treatment it can be fixed easy. It gets over looked a lot I most likely got mine from Rainbow fish?? but there are a lot of possible fish you can get it from and the fish don't have to show signs if it for you to get it. If you are concerned about it Google it and have a read, but don't go all hypo over it. I have known about it for 40 years and known many that have had it and form Cichlids, Catfish, Gouramis and many more species. Be on the look out but not panicked and no way am I giving away fish keeping, but it is a warning to keep your water healthy and your fish healthy and stay alert. Mostly if you are concerned get a blood test, DAM I hate needles I hate them Bob I will leave it to the Scientist for a tec explanation AKA Ben, BEN??

22 should be ok. Their creeks dont actually get too hot. Likewise your TDS shoudl be fine. Mine is around 30 and my zebs are doing well. I have plenty of bubs and subadults coming up to maturity.

Thanks @callan and everyone else. Well on the weekend I did a 20% water change, cleaned the foam filter and did not do any feeding. The substrate is quite new approximately 3-4 months old and there is hardly any wasted food I can see between cracks. I also checked my API nitrate expiry dates and found that these expire in 2019. I shook the bottles and banged the bottles for what seemed like 5 minutes and then tested the water (i had waited for 24 hours). The results were exactly the same as before if not slightly a little better, I thought that couldn't be right and tested again, exactly the same readings. This is frustrating, the shrimp all in all look happy and I agree with the KISS philosophy. I guess the reason I am mainly trying to get the nitrates down is for the future survival of shrimplings. I have heard and read (through @shrimp daddy's blog) that high nitrates can cause lower survival rates. I've invested a lot of time and to some degree money to set these guys up well and want to have a successful tank with high survival rates of shrimplings.

Hi Larry, The seems to be a difference of opinion into the usefulness of these systems and the results of what they do or don't do.At the end of the day it isn',t a weeing competition It up to you wether you try it or don't try it. Don't get caught up in trying to get your head around the sciences of it all. It will just confuse you more. I would just use the KISS principle. All I can say is I have installed numerous systems and seen the results both professionally, personally as well as numerous positive feedback from customers. If you would like more info about this subject for your own knowledge, PM and I will put you onto the importer, who I know personally. He is in a handful of people within Australia with the expertise in not only this subject but all aspects to do with water quality. He is also the only person in Australia who has successfully built natural swim ponds. Another interesting project and topic. These are more popular in European countries there has only been two built to this stage here. Inverted's idea in relation to the substrate is a good one and that alone may make a huge difference.

After dropping off some BN fry to a pet shop I convinced the other half to go to the river and have a bit of a hunt around for some snails, which surprisingly he agreed to. The water has dropped in the river an amazing amount, and the log where I had previously found the snails is now almost totally out of the water, so this time I went further out onto the sandflats that have patches of val growing on it, but still very shallow and a good metre or two of ankle deep water between me and deeper darker water. And much to my delight I actually found a single live snail after regretfully finding lots more sadly and maddeningly deceased large ones. Sadly I didn't get to stay as long as I would have liked hunting for the snails, stupid house and yard work needing to be done. This new guy I should have no problems telling apart from the other one, provided he doesn't lose his dark shell and go golden too. Without further ado introducing the new guy
