  1. John.
Had a search on here, no mentioned previously, so I thought I'd post this as it may interest some. Has anyone heard of these before? http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/indeX.aspX?base=1114 They look interesting, I'm aware they're under the threatened species act but I feel a breeding program between hobbyist's could only mean good things for the species? pygmy_mt_shrimp.pdf

Very interesting John and thankyou for posting this thread. It would be interesting to know about water parameters. I read in the info you supplied that they are found in peat beds. This opens up few things that come to mind straight away. Water softness, tannins and ph levels. Many years ago I was a member of the Avicultural Society and as a result of the hard work by members, a lot of endangered parrot and finch populations were able to be saved. I mention this because of your point about being a good thing for hobbyists. I can think of a few people straight away that are specialising in native shrimp on this forum and I'm sure would love to give these guys a go. Do you have any further info about the regions in Tasmania that were mentioned in the pygmy shrimp PDF?

Man you'll never guess what my occupation is... Basically brown sections slightly elevated which will create a low area for a tunnel/path under the driftwood in the middle. obviously more plants than what I've put in - Java fern on the trunk, some pelia, rotala and a crypt parvo carpet.

Amkr I am only a new kid on the block but I have had plenty of experience in Aquascaping. I would prefer to see your mock up in a box with a low front using sand as a substrate at the moment its too flat to give an honest criticism. You are on the right track as far as experimenting with different hard scapes Shrimpo

Step ahead of me mate. Stopped past and grabbed a couple of rocks tonight to acompany my lonely rock. Played with it and ended up with this. I think I'm on the right track!

ANY informed information is invaluable to us -especially from someone like Shrimp Daddy. Also friendly debate and constructive criticism helps us all learn and keeps us motivated to do better. The day we think we know it all is a sad day . It is great to have knowledgeable members who are willing to share their knowledge. At the end of the day this helps us all make up our own minds on which direction we take but it is always our decision and not every thing works for everybody. Happy shrimping guys!
