Got some females there for sure I think. Easily a fave tank of mine, just a simple layout which I like, well planted, healthy and that HC without CO2 looks like the back lawn after a decent rain, haha, sweet tank.

Well it happened again. My other berried female got berried again almost immediately after her eggs hatched :). A couple of days ago the males in the tank were swimming around the tank when I checked on them in the morning. In the afternoon when the lights turned on I saw some new shrimplets. There was also a freshly molted shell. The only two berried shrimp were the one responsible for my first batch of shrimplets (berried for 2 weeks now) and the one that has been berried for 4 weeks (see pics above). I have seen this shrimp everyday for at least a week and she has been berried the whole time. As unlikely as it sounds, she had to have berried within 24 hours of her eggs hatching. I am not sure why these two shrimp are so prolific, but I am happy they are. I took some pics of some of my shrimplets. I didn't want to freak them out so I didn't use a flash. Sorry for the quality.

I had a 45cm tank lying around so might as well make a little home for some shrimps :D I'm using Benibachi Shrimp Soil, assortment of low light plants, HOB filter, and fair bit of lava rock. The rocks will provide heaps of surface area for the beneficial bacteria to colonise.

Day 100 Man this tank been fun!! Lots of saddles and one big berried DAS. Unfortunately, Otto's don't seem to like my tank and keep dying so giving up on them for now. Plants are out of control ATM so need a big trim next couple days.

It's because of the water temperature, and the availability of food and nutrients. They breed very frequently at higher temperature (the egg also hatches fast), but to sustain such behaviour they will need to have plenty of food and nutrients (provided they have good health too).

Planarias should have come with a plant or something else introduced in the tank, and not cleaned enough. In my case, I remarked the planarias several days after I introduced catappa leaves in the tank. Now, not only I wash carefully the leaves, but I also "cook" them in the microwave. As I said, I succesfully got rid of this pest using dewormer. Not sure you can find Fluvermal in your location - this is a french product - but some use No-Planaria, or pet dewormer. See there: http://www.planetinverts.com/killing_planaria_and_hydra.html If you have snails and love them, be aware that the treatment may kill them too. Hope that helps ;)
