Just can't thank this guy enough. So i will share with you guys what he has done for me. 6 weeks ago i saw jp selling some oebts so i mentioned it was too bad my tank was still cycling or i would buy them, he then offers to hold a pair for me and even offer to sell it for less then he woukd get in the open market. A couple of weeks later my tank is cycled so i contact him to organise pick up. He mentions since i was coming down i may as well see if i want anything else since he would like to sell all his shrimp. I after having a look i decided to buy a couple pairs of oebts , some tibees and some mischlings. This is whn jp drop the god father "offer you cant refuse". For a little less then double the amount i was going to pay he would sell me his set up and all the shrimp. I am now the new owner of jps set up and his beautful shrimp. Thanks John for the amazing offer and being so patient while we slowly took everything. You are a good nan sorry to see you leave the hobby please keep in touch. Couple of pics after i finally got everything running and shrimp acclimatized. Pinto daddy Pinto? Baby Thanks again.

These are some more pictures of ponds I have built. Hopefully it may give others ideas. This is a pond that was built for MIFGS 2014 in a garden design called Here and Now. This design won a gold medal for best enviromental garden. It was made using rubber EPDM liner, granite blocks, smaller granite rocks, washed white pebble and it had a new product at the time which was recycled glass that could be used as substrate or even as ground cover. The idea of the different coloured glass was that the sun would hit the glass through the water and create different coloured reflections from the water. This was a very tricky pond to build because the liner could not be fixed to the blocks as they were borrowed and had to be returned as well as the restrictions of the granite being picked by the architect. In a real situation greater depth of water could have been achieved by better selection and fixing of the liner. The plants used were Japanese Blood Grass, blue tropical water lillies. The entire garden was edible and the idea was that the water flowed down a creek to the main pond and it was then pumped back to a hidden water tank that could then be used for feeding the plants. Some might have seen this highlighted on Better Homes and Gardens. Here are a couple more ponds showing what can be achieved on a smaller basis but still getting a natural looking pond. This pond is only 150 litres . I have used volcanic rock and then various sized river pebbles. This pond was approximately 1500 litres and incorporated a waterfall going into a creek then another small waterfall to the main pond. This pond utilised mud rock on the waterfall, various size river pebble and for a change I wanted to use some Castlemaine Slate to break it up a bit more. I used a 3000 LPH pump going to a UV cannister filter hidden in the garden opposite and returning to the waterfall and creek. Hope you enjoy them

Yep I most certainly did receive a awesome package. I was planning to give spending money on shrimps a rest but this offer was too good. If I end up missing in a few days it would probably be my wife lol. Unfortunately it seems like he will be but I have told if the itch returns I will hook him up. I am lucky he choose me to make the offer too. Now I can work on my own red fancy Tibee project and a black pinto project. Very excited. Can't thank jp enough I just want to do his shrimp projects justice and keep them going. Any tips would be welcomed. To tell you the truth I was delaying the purchase cause I was hoping he would change his mind. I am extremely thankful and lucky to get this. Hope to pass on my good fortune to other members in Perth in the near future. Only issue is I think I over spent on shrimps related thing the last few months so I may need to sell some soon to keep the wife happy lol. Luckily jp gave me his blessings to do this.

Great news for you Disciple! Brilliant shrimp to be setting up with. John Paul is a great guy, sad to lose him from the hobby! Hope its not too long before we see him again!

Sorry to hear JP is leaving the hobby. His shrimp always looked great. On the other hand it's fantastic that disciple has managed to get some really good stock to continue his journey.

Coincidentally, someone from another forum seeking help on the same problem, and I recalled I have this article: http://www.shrimpydaddy.com/pages/how-to-analyse-low-shrimplet-survival-rate

They only connection (and I have to keep checking it) is egg colour seems to match the mothers eye colour. Black eyed mothers seem to have black eggs, white/light eyes seem to have shades of green. The red egged mother had red eyes and I have quite a number of males with red eyes but haven't noticed any other berried females with red eyes so may be a fluke. Something I'm monitoring, fairly wild speculation at this point.

The way I see it, the only reason it goes back to F1 is because you can't tell how the genes have recombined with the F8 X F8. If you can get TB from crossing the two, you can also get offspring that has genes equivalent to an F8. But you would also get some equivalent to F7, F6, F5... and so on. So F1 is the safe (re)starting point. Mischling X mischling can get great results. I have a female from that cross that is better than any of my pure BBs! MischXmisch stock is just not as desirable and harder to move on. If you don't have any plans for them, do it!

Nice set up and a bargin is a bargin. It is so refreshing to hear these stories. Thank you for sharing and for passing on a special mention about jp.

The beauty of most of this, is that anyone can do it.There is no classes or training you can do to get a qualification. Yes I think I have a bit of an eye and feel for it but the best advice is give it a go. Picture things you have seen and how it all fits together, then try to replicate it. I always take time to do the little things like adding a rock or changing rocks, adding different size river pebbles in certain spot or plants in certain spots. It is no different really to aquascaping a tank in my opinion. The reason I put these photos up is to hopefully help others or give different ideas. Who knows maybe there will be some more ponds and maybe even a dedicated section for this and other ideas by other members.

I've been getting my brain in a tangle, trying to work out what approximate F# that an F8 X F8 would give. Unfortunately it's not possible to tell because we don't know how many genes control the taiwan bee phenotype. What I do know is that by the time you reach F8, a lot of the CBS genes would have been bred out, so you most likely couldn't get a pure CBS genotype from the cross. My opinion? I would call it an F8 mischling X F8 mischling. Treat it as an F1 and it would be a good head start to breeding mischlings that you could use an F#. As far as red bolts go, I'm in the same position as you. I've never had one (that I know of), but I have a white mischling that is quite pinkish/orangish in colour, so I've put it in with a ruby red to see what I get. Red bolt is possible from mischling x mischling, and red bolts are not the sharp red of a CRS. There has been some discussion on European forums as to whether a red bolt is a taiwan bee or just another colour variation of a snow white/golden. Someone crossed a red bolt back to a ruby red. The outcome? 100% red TB offspring! So proving that a red bolt is a taiwan bee! Your orange shrimp may well be red bolts. If they are not, they are beautiful shrimp anyway.

Hoping we can get the judges to write a collective "judges guide" for what is desirable/undesirable and how the point structure works. Will have it at least a few months before the next show.
