Came in to work this morning after being interstate Thursday and Friday and found my Shrimp tank full of tiny Yellow Cherry's. First time breeder - funny out of all my 3 tanks I have done less maintenance on this one and abided by the rule less is more.

A low quality photo of my Mosura JRB to share: Sorry for the poor quality. Too tired from work, and I was too lazy to setup the flash and tripod. (^_^")y

Hi everyone,I have just completed my first shrimp rack but are unsure about my refugium design. The first baffle in all three compartments are equal and the other three are stepped down.My question is am I better off reducing the height of the first baffle so that is only slightly higher than the second one thus increasing water flow or will it make no difference.Another option is to put a perspex plate,at a 45 degree angle, with holes drilled in it to distribute the oxygenated water more evenly. Look forward to your input. Cheers Mark.

Looks Good, Have you worked out the amount of water the sump has to hold in a power out?? you look like you are clear. Lots come unstuck when the power goes out and the sump over flows Do as Mr Squigley said and that kills the noise, easy as. A good Bio mass is 50% shade cloth, works a treat and is all I use and easy to clean. OH I use a pre filter at first contact in the first chamber, Sheets of toy animal stuffing from Spot light cheep and easy and polishes the water well There is enough oxygen in the water through the sump action, if you want more a air stone under each chamber works a treat. It won't make much difference. If it's the sound of the water you are worried about, I had the same issue. I just got a big piece of course sponge & cut it to slightly wider than the tank & wedged it in the sump so the sponge was just above the waterline. This way the water falls on to the sponge & it stops the sound. Hope this helps.
