Hahahaha!! You forget, this is me your are referring to! Mr impulsive spender!! Any sales I have made are just funding more and more stock, products and general nonsense! But yeah, that tank has more than paid for itself. And has helped the next stage begin.... But that will be another thread!! :)

I think soap tends to work with macrobrachium, but why use it when there are better alternatives? Soap is a pollutant in freshwater systems. If you want to catch macros in a trap, try dog biscuits. Seems to work pretty well for other shrimp species too.

Congrats Oz! Awesome to hear your colony has grown so well too!! Over 100 already, sweet!! It's a great feeling when it grows to these kind of numbers. If I had to estimate I would say there are between 250-350 in there now. There are so many tiny newborns floating about! The tank has produced so many, would have sold at least 300 0.6-0.8 juvies in the past four months too. I am amazed how well the tank and colony have done considering they took so long to start up. But now I can't touch or do anything different to the tank for fear of it stopping. Guessing Mother Nature will slow them down when they reach too big a population. Thanks for offering to help rehouse them Jayc! Lol. I have been selling quite a few of the a-s grades over the last few months and have been holding onto the ss/SSS for future projects. Probably around 30-40 sub adult ss+ now, so they will have their own tank very soon.

It has been a couple of days so I thought I would post a quick update. I'll start with the bad news. On Friday I found a second shrimp that has become opaque and has shortened antennas. Here is a shot of him. As for the good news, I don't think I have lost any shrimp. The two sick shrimp both are behaving normal and are eating. Perhaps they will pull through this. Other positive news, the rest of the shrimp all seem fine. My one berried female is doing well too.

Have just ordered Salty Shrimp GH+ so once I have that I'll empty the tank, replace with distilled water and add the SS GH+.

WEEK 5 So week 5 came, everything is going well still, managed to sort water parameters out, just need to get the TDS up as it's sitting at 73 ppm at the moment, would like it at 120 ppm, so will slowly add some tap water each day I think. White stuff on the substrate is Mineral Powder, I put some in earlier to raise the TDS but hasn't raised it at all.

What is the saying ard here? Pics or it didn't happen!

Excited or stressed? It seems not logic there could be a benefit using this product. Say it force females to molt before they are ready for it, that's not an improvement. Say it's some kind of pheromone and it just makes the males crazy, that's also not an improvement. The process form building up eggs in the female body to the moment the eggs hatch is about 2 months. The effect (whatever it may be) of this product is instantly, so I wonder what the benefit could be. Do you know what Benibachi says about this? And do they say something about the long term effects?

as in the vid. the shrimp all got excited, just have to wait now and see if the berried rate is increased.

All right before you guys hijack this thread any further, I am naming this food. Shrimp Kandy Feast. Shrimp ... well that's self explanatory. It's for shrimp. Agar is associated to desserts or sweets. Candy is sweet, and yummy. Feast cause it invokes images of a huge crowd eating. Why kandy with a 'K' ? Well just for it's origins ... check out the name's acronym

Finally managed to get pictures of the shrimp enjoying their new food...

Awesome stuff dude, you definitely beat me to it, I've been working on a gel version of Crack that is along the same lines as the Repashy foods, mine has the same basic process but the green mix is way different, more aimed at trace elements & minerals than proteins, just keep an eye out for it soon.
