This is one of a few different formulas i use in my shrimp tanks. This formula is used for the promotion of health, growth, strength, color & Breeding. Ingredients Bacillus Subtillis Natto 3.0x109 (3 billion cfu/g) Instantized BCAA Powder. (2:1:1 ratio of L-leucine. L-Isoleucine & L-Valine). Chitosan. (98% pure.) Product details #1. Bacillus subtilis, is a Gram-positive, catalase positive bacterium. #2. (BCAA) Branched-chain amino acid is an amino acid having aliphatic side-chains with a branch (a carbon atom bound to more than two other carbon atoms). Among the proteinogenic amino acids, there are three BCAAs: leucine, isoleucine and valine. #3. Chitosan is a linear polysaccharide composed of randomly distributed β-(1-4)-linked D-glucosamine (deacetylated unit) and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine (acetylated unit). It is made by treating shrimp and other crustacean shells with the alkali sodium hydroxide. Info I mix the following amounts of all three products into a 2ltr glass bottle, and then add RO water. Give it a good shake for a few minutes and then leave it in a dark cool place for 14 days, only taking it out to give it a shake once a day. 0.5 Grams BSN + 2 Grams BCAA + 1.5 Grams Chito. Now I am no scientist and cannot explain in great detail how or why it works, but what I can say is that the shrimp that get this treatment of 5ml once a week added directly to the water, show exceptional colour, health and increased breeding rates. Also shrimp seem to breed and berry a little earlier than normal.

Excellent write up, Marcus - I have two points to add: the last word should be Taiwan Bee (not Tigers)fresh boiled food (spinach, stinging nettle) will stimulate breeding even more than pellet food. This is also true for feeding brine shrimp and blood worms (=protein). However, one should be aware to not introduce planaria eggs with the food (that is why I prefer brine shrimp)temperature also stimulates breeding: adding a bit cold water can stimulate molts, while raising temperature ad light will stimulate the females to produce eggs. Most of our kept shrimp here in Europe stop breeding in winter from October to January.TDS is total dissolved solids, btw - everything that is i the water, no only ions.
