Culling in big tanks

For those of you who keep your shrimp in big tanks (i.e 3ft or longer), what do you find is the best way to sort/cull your shrimp to keep or increase their grade?

i have a 4ft tank with plants (on timber) containing 100's of RCS breeding like mad. Problem is I'm seeing really low grade shrimp buzzing around (almost clear some of them) as well as some that are almost painted. I don't really want to tear the tank apart to catch and sort the shrimp. I'm not in a hurry to have all painted reds but I'd like to slowly increase the grade in this tank.

Will simply removing the low grade shrimp as and when I see them increase the grade slowly over time? Should I instead remove the plants out of the tank every few months or so to sort the shrimp?

What methods have you guys used successfully in the past?

Simply catch as much as you can every time you clean the tank/ water change/ etc. then take time to sort out only the best and put those you think are low quality into a holding tank.

In the holding tank make sure the parameters are slightly different, as your culls might turn into better quality than you think. All shrimps reacts differently to water parameters. ;)

For rcs I nomally take all plant out redo the tank , pick the shrimp I like put back and let them bred(if one low quality male do some female you will ender up more low quality shrimp.) Put cull shrimp in holding tank let them bred and pick nice one put back main tank and feed some low quality one to fish.

For crs and cbs I will do what Sprae said.

My culls go to rainbows or cichlids so no hating here:). Decided I'm going to move the tank so I'll have to pull the tank down eventually anyway. Will take your advice and put back in only the best shrimp. However until then, I'll continue scooping out the culls.
