:Scratch-Head: I just found a little CRS in my Blue Velvet tank and not sure how long the poor little thing has been in there. I think it is from the Mischling tank next to it as it looks about the same size as the first lot of babies. My problem now is what to do - if it survives that is- normally I guess I would just catch it out and drip acclimatise it to it's hopefully original tank however here lies the problem the Mischling tank is sitting at about PH5.6 and the Velvet tank is PH 6.5. The baby has already suffered a massive shock to it's little system so do I catch it out and drip it back to the original tank or should I leave it and see how it copes and then pop it back into it's own tank in a week or 2? Any thoughts??? Still don't know how on earth it got into the cherry tank - I did siphon my tanks this morning because of the heat to give them some fresh water but I'm not sure how it got transferred as I use a clear hose . I haven't swapped any plants or moss nor have I used any nets since setting up the tanks I guess it could have been hidden in some of the moss from when I setup the tank but that was 10 days ago and then I don't know if it is a Mischling or a CRS .:slaphead: Think I'll go and have a drink:beer:

Perfect day for a drink!! I would leave it a couple of days to make sure it isn't too stressed before moving it again!

They are such escape artists!!

I have been sitting looking at the tank an for the life of me I can't see it now- there are some good hiding places obviously. Maybe it will find it's way home -or is that just wishful thinking:)

I'd treat as a CRS I'm afraid. And personally I find if you don't care about it then it'll survive a dump into the other tank without any problems, only if you're concerned will it die ;-)

Thanks BigD I have stopped worrying about it either it lives or it doesn't. I'm also not fussed about it being a Mischling or not I only want numbers of Crystals and Mischlings not worried about the quality so if it survives it will go into the Mischling tank. I'm only breeding for myself it will be a very long time before I would consider selling any - I have a lot of tanks to fill now.

One interesting thing he mentioned was "Bacteria pressure", which I guess just means number of bacteria around.  Yet I see all these other videos from shrimpkeepers bragging about how much bacteria their filtering system holds. Also interesting is no mention of using anti-biotics to treat bacterial infection.  I think that has fallen out of favor recently.

It has been a few weeks now and I have done a couple of large water changes. I tested the water parameters this morning, GH6 and KH2, TDS 140 and PH 7.5. Obviously the PH is off but there isn't anything in the tank that should cause the PH to rise to this figure so I will just run the tank for another month with 10% weekly water changes (probably just with RO water) and see where we are at that point. The RO water tests at PH6, and the KH and GH in the tank could come down as they are at the upper limits for Caridina shrimps! There are only about 10 very small snails in there at this point, but they seem to be doing well enough.

I believe these to be very rare in Australia so you may even consider making it a longer term plan and produce your own by starting with the best CRS you can get as that is where the pure lines started! Depends how patient and interested in the project you are, but would save money as well? If I recall correctly it takes from 8 generations of selective breeding? They sell them at micro aquatic shop but do not ship to Western Australia, but that means they are available in Australia. https://microaquaticshop.com.au/products/pure-red-line-grade-ss-shrimp Good luck and just maybe smeone on here may point you in the right direction or be able to supply you with some.
