I have them in all my tanks but not as many as recommended, Dean suggested I only use 3-4 per 100L tank instead of the recommended 10 as our water quality is a lot better than overseas. They are very worth it & definitely help keep your water stable. :victorious:

I be buying some from dean

i gonna need about 6 to 7 as I have about 279 l of water but that's discounting the soil in the tank

Im setting up a new rack atm. It has a 4 foot sump has anyone put them in there filter rather than in the tanks. If so does it work as well as in the tank

I believe you can do both but I haven't tried it so don't know which is more effective. :victorious:

As long as water flows across them they should be fine even in a sump.

They don't last forever though, so you might want to replace them at some point in time.

It will probably expire after a year or 2, and become just like any filter media. But as filter media goes, they are not the best, since you can get media that is more porous. Benibachi balls aren't as porous as say Seachem's Matrix, Eheim Substrat, or even normal glass noodles.

So it doesn't matter if you have them in a sump or canister. If you couldn't be bothered removing them, it's not issue either. They are just not very economical price wise as filter media.
