Egg colouration on CRS

Can someone please explain the changes in egg colour on berried CRS and when do you know they are close to hatching. I am aware of them starting dark, but I noticed a few days ago they were very red in colour. Tonight I looked and they were almost black/brown in colour.

You're definitely only a few days away, they darken before they hatch & if you look closely you may be able to see eyes. The whole process usually takes about 28 days, give or take depending on the temp. Well done & remember, pics or it didn't happen, hahaha :smiley_simmons:

Thanks Squiggle, do you seperate into a fry saver? I read that some people are doing it because they get a better survival rate. I have started adding a mix of powdered wheat germ, bee pollen, crushed super greens tablets, which I am syringing directly into mosses etc.

I don't, I put the berried girls into a different tank in my rack until they drop & then put her back when she has, but some do. It all depends if you are selectively breeding for a program or just to get the numbers of your colony up & then cull the ones you don't want later. Sounds like you've got the food situation sorted, very nice assortment. :victorious:
