Just want to share a member from my tank :p

This is my first real golden bee shrimp. He/she have a solid white/yellow color :barbershop_quartet_, you can see he's more yellow than other snow white.

Btw, what's difference between snow white and golden, some said snow white from black crystal and golden form other, some said bright white are snow white, others are golden.....

@2OFUS. Thanks a lot. I am not sure that I have enough experience to keep the higher grade yet or not. Still learning :victorious:

Very nice dude, my GB's are slightly off white/yellow & my SW's are really white, some people say that GB's came from CRS & SW's came from CBS :victorious:

Too me, its got to do with genetics. I'll call snow whites from CBS genetics and goldens from CRS genetics.

Some say golden or snow white is a 'grading' for a white shrimp.

I think name with genetic history is important because it is good to know where your shrimp came from all the way back to the great grand parents of the shrimp.

Abt Gold and snow white, I think ppl just made it up, they are the same. I havent seen any golden until now, only saw low grade snow white and ppl claim that it's golden....

@2OFUS: Thank heaps. I think there are no chance to have tb offspring if they are mating with crystal isnt it?

first up thats a really gold gold! :) congrats!!

there definitely is a quality difference between good golds and not good quality ones.

notice on really good golds the gold colour is very solid.. not necessarily the depth of the colour, if that makes sense? the lower grade golds will have reds bleeding through.. blotchy pattern.. very visible lines on the back.. some can even look brownish (like the one next to the gold in question in pic above) especially the cheeks and head. the real quality golds are when it is solid gold, even if the colour gold is light gold. from young u can tell how good the gold colour is.. i mostly look for solid colour on the head the body should also be solid if the head is solid.

i can only comment on golds as i have a few but dont keep SW... yet ;)

that little gold will make for an interesting breeding program. if i find any that come this colour i'll keep u in mind.. although im trying for the lighter but solid gold. i have around 20 or so with 2 girls ready to pop any day :)

Thanks, day 2 in the tank and the shrimp seem fine (not done roll call yet today), I saw 9 (got 11) yesterday and no dead bodies  so I 'assume' the other 2 were hiding somewhere. I drip acclimated them over night so they had a longer acclimate and hopefully that helped, but it is early days yet, however so far so good. I am looking forward to getting blue bolts at the end of the week but I doubt they will be as pretty as yours, but at this point I will be happy enough as long as they survive. That will be the lot this time so I am calling this tank 'bruiser tank' as it will only be mixed 'black and blue' shrimps!  I don't have any rocks this time just some small pieces of lava rock. The tests I did yesterday show KH is 0-1 (you can't test for 0 obviously) and PH was 7 on the drop test but the disc meter thing in the tank shows yellow so should be below 7 (the nearest match I think is 6.6) but all the test kits show in stages, and it can be difficult to tell when they are just different shades of the same colour. The seller of the shrimps said his tanks were PH 6.8 so we are at least closely matched. GH should go down slowly with the regular water changes/maintenance etc so hopefully the shrimp can handle it being a little high temporarily, seller had GH 5-6 (I assume 6 drops) and mine is just on 7. I am pleased with the sparser/simpler tank and the fact I can just glance over and see it when I am in my usual seat is great. I have a stick on thermometer so shouldn't have a similar disaster to before and have the heater set cooler at 21 this time, though in summer the tank will go above that most of the time. Hope everything is fine with yours!

Good luck.  I hope the Ph / KH issue is under control.  If not... Maybe use peat? Edit:  looking at a previous picture - maybe you should just remove those rocks for now

My lil emerald green. It's a lot harder taking macro shots with 15mm glass tanks.
