Quiet sump pump?

Recommended Posts

My new rack is noisy, it's in the Laundry room and we can't close the door and block it off from the living area. Whilst doing a water change today I turned off the pump and noticed that it is arguably the loudest thingabout the whole set up. So can anyone recommend a quiet sump pump? I think i need 4500lph or above?

I've not had it long but it came second hand so you could be right...

Just thought cos it is some cheapo brand ive never heard of there might be a better one i could get....

Do you have to open them up to clean them?

My one is about the same size is noisy too. I bought it brand new so it's always been that way. I can't remember the brand, but I bought it from Masters in the pond section.

Sometimes the impeller starts to get a bit loose after a while, maybe be worth while checking that out. Also, is the pump sitting directly on the glass? If it is, try putting a sponge underneath it.

Yeah you just unscrew the cover plate to the impeller & gently pull it out being careful not to break the shaft :encouragement:

you could even put it on some filter wool, anything to insulate the vibration from the glass :victorious:
