Tank Shrimp Capacity

Hi all,

Thanks all for your recent help with my pH issue. All is going well now except I lost a couple of the very smallest of the shrimp but am not too concerned about that (or should I be?). Am monitoring them daily, enjoying my first forray into dedicated shrimp keeping, and they seem to be active, eating well and happy. (Post photos soon.)

So quick question, how many shrimp can I safely put into this tank?

My tank it 2ft x 1ft x 1ft. I have an older eheim professional cannister filter on it. While the flow has been slightly slowed as I've put filter wool on the outlet to dissipate the flow, it's still quite a high ltrs/hr turnover. Am using Up-Auqa shrimp sand. Three plants, two sword varieites (one large and one merdium) and one mid-sized anubias, in the tank.

Currently have 20+ CRS. Am getting 20 chameleons deilivered this week. Am looking into yellows and CBS now as well. Am not going to mix the CRS and CBS.

What do you think, how many is a safe number? As the numbers increase (hopefully) via breeding, culls will be put into my main display tank.

Thanks

As long as you have enough filtration & a good supply of air, you can have lots just watch this video posted by Planted in his thread & see for yourself, make sure you watch carefully & see how many shrimp there are :encouragement:

Thanks. Will check the video out at home tonight. I've actually got a pump with two big airstones generating really good oxygenation as well.
