Eheim 2211 O Ring Gasket question

Hi all

I have an Eheim 2211 and have had it going for around 6 months. I am continually running into the problem where air is somehow getting in after re-priming. Usually around 12 - 24 hours.

First sign is an increase in sound, a then a decrease in flow and eventually an air pocket forms at the top of the lily intake pipe.

Filter is recently cleaned but the problem has come back. It is not normally a problem as I can temporarily correct when at home, but am going on a 7 day holiday and trying to get it sorted.

By reason of deduction I think the issue might be the seal from the filter motor to the canister via the red O-ring. I purchased the unit 2nd hand and have replaced the impella. I wonder if there is a grease that I can use on the O-ring to ensure the seal is 100%

Any thoughts??

Eheim do have their own lube for the O-rings but I don't think it will fix your problem, more than likely it would be leaking if it wasn't sealing properly

I normally quickly switch mine off and on a few times (some times, heaps of times) till it has stopped making noise after I clean it and it is also important that the filter is lower than the tank so the water siphons into the filter

Jase, m sure you've tried everything physically possible, right down to shaking the cannister to get rid of any air Ickes etc......as mentioned, I have a spare 2211 for you to experiment, change seals, impeller etc .....

Besides the hose, only other area air may get suck into the cannister is the o-ring, inlet and outlet intake/fitting that's connected to the cannister....

I have frigged around with it again, double checking and tightening everything to the max, so far so good, will see what happens over the next 24 hours. If no good I will gladly borrow your spare Marcus!
