Hello from Tasmania

Featured Replies

Technically I'm not new, I used to keep shrimp many years ago when I lived in SA. I made the move to Tasmania four years ago and was recently wanting to get back into the aquarium world.

Is there any shrimp available in Tas that we can keep?

Welcome to the forum, I hope you find plenty of useful information on here and enjoy your time here!

I can't be of any help with your enquiry as I am UK based, but hopefully someone may be able to guide you in the correct direction.

@isfrael, you should be able to keep any native shrimp species, if you can purchase them.

Check out your Local Fish Stores as well, to see if they have any shrimp that are being sold.

Tassie is the strictest out of all the states, so shipping any from interstate is not going to be much of an option. You best chance is to find stock that is already in the country.

Hopefully someone on this forum from TAS can chime in to give you more advice on what can be kept in TAS.

I'm in Hobart and having the same issue, I've even considered at $2000 saltwater tank  just to have shrimp.
