check out this riffle I saw late last year. I stressed her a bit by rolling over the rock she was under and she turned these vivid colours. Unfortunately the pics didn't really do her justice.

Hey Ben, what species of Macro do you get up there? The australiense we get down here in Victoria show some great colour variations too, I'll try to get up to them this season and take some pics.

Not sure about the species. Have never tried to ID. Maybe australiense as that is supposed to be common in eastern Aus.

Update: Most, possibly all, the Macros pictured are likely to be M. tolmerum.
