RCS Cracked Shell?

I can't seem to find this problem using search, and wondering if anyone can enlighten me on this issue.

This issue seems rather acute, she was ok in the morning or rather quite normally active prior, when I checked again in the evening she had this prominent gap from the head shell and the body, and was moving quite awkwardly. Several hours later she died. What could this be? There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer on google either.

GH is at 5, i normally feed spinach and an occasional mulberry leaf. I though all that should be good for molting/shell.

Any help appreciated

Sorry to hear the loss...she looked gorgeous too... Does look like a moulting issue. GH of 5 should be OK, although cherries do preference a higher GH level. There are other considerations as well... Minerals, Chitosan etc..... Unsure whether you add any mineral powder ?

I sometimes get this visual symptom in my 3ft tank that has no substrate (I also don't feed them shrimp specific food because I'm worried it would cause bloat in my greedy bristlenose) so i put it down to a mineral deficiency

I've found though adding some of benibachi's mineral powder and beemax powder seems to fix it and It's been a good 2-3 months since I've seen a dead shrimp in the tank, not saying it's a definite fix but it's worked so far for me.

Good luck :)

Yeah I use both bee max (1 spoon per WC per week), and mironecton mineral powder (1 spoon) every third day. I also have 1 benibachi bee ball in there.

I do have another shrimp that has a similar transparent stripe in the same region but to a much lesser extent (very thin) but other shrimps do not exhibit the same feature. I fear for her life, but I seem pretty helpless to stop it.

Can it be caused by some sort of infection? I can't seem to find anything remotely similar in the shrimp diagnosis page though.

The band is getting slightly more prominent on that female. But it still appears quite active for food.
