underground tunnel network

Hi all, I'm new to shrimp but had an idea for a tank set up involving constructing a pvc network of tunnels under the substraight for the shrimp to live, hide and breed in. I was considering using a 15 gallon tank setting up the tunnel network as a grid with 4 or 3 entries on the front and back and 2 or 3 along the width and a row down the center. how would you guys think that would work?

It would make seeing the shrimp near impossible. 

The shrimp might like the hide out. But I guess  there is a compromise - being able to see the shrimp vs a nice hideout.

No, because you would never be able to clean it out.
