BABIES!!!

Recommended Posts

Sheldon13

It's my first time guys!  I got these as my first shrimp, they were berried within 2 days and I had to squeal this morning when I woke up to babies!  So far I count 13.  I had 2 berried females so I know there's more...  They are orange cherries 😄

Congrats Sheldon! Any idea what species those cherries are? I have a few orange shrimp available in my area but I'm pretty sure they aren't Neos cos they're labelled Orange shrimp and the fry need brackish water to survive 😕

They are orange cherry shrimp.  They have doubled in size and I’ve counted 14!

So I moved all oranges over to their own tank and there were actually 22, plus 10 from another orange.  Loooot of shrimps coming my way!

Here they are now, 3 weeks old!  They are growing fast.  Some of them appear to be just orange like their parents, and a few, maybe 5 of them, appear a much darker orange.  I am wondering if they may actually end up being red?  I don't know how long it takes to be able to tell that.

Trying to post pics and having issues...

I can't seem to upload files 😞

Yay it worked!  I took these pics with a magnifying glass and my phone camera.  Not bad, eh?

Newer A/C units now have auto on/off features. Maybe it's time for an upgrade @Zoidburg 😁 The things we do for our shrimp!

@Zoidburg, happy to do that for you. Moved.

@jayc Would it help at all to move this thread to General Questions/Discussions? Still looking for ideas on what these guys may be.

I really enjoy cycling a tank from zero. Find fascínating the invisible process seemingly Out of the blue , where ammonia  rises, leaching from the substrate ( always use Ada amazonia or help shrimp substratos) then ammonia turns into nitrite and those two dissapear and you are left with nitrate, al i had to do  was wait, i also use seachem matrix or pondguru,s ultimate and that ends Taking Care of nitrate too.

I think it might help to understand what water parameters you already have and what substrate.
As far as the bird mineral blocks go? They should, in theory, be okay, however I'd be concerned about the metal that's in many of them. The metal that's meant to be tied to the bird cages. Wouldn't personally use it, because if extra calcium was required, I'd just add it from a remineralizer or get some form of calcium in another form to add to the tank.
