Thanks! I'm looking to start a RCS tank. First time keeping shrimp. Currently have a community fish tank with 3 filters in it. I'm assuming, I can just move one of the filters over (preferably the sponge filter) and that'll give me an instant cycle in the shrimp tank?

Is there a local for sale forum? I rather purchase from a member locally than to have shrimp shipped.

Additionally, will RCS be able to thrive in my water?

You can do that. But don't assume it will be instant. You still need to give it a few days, and test for Ammonia, and Nitrites before adding shrimp.

These parameters are too high for them to thrive. Look up the RCS preferred parameters and work matching it.

Jayc is right that they may not thrive with those parameters but there is some hope because it's possible that they can thrive. Tapwater where I am is not great and yhe first shrimp tank i had gradually crept towards even higher parameters than that (pH around the same and TDS was ridiculous I can't remember it may have been as high as 800ppm and certainly over 500ppm from memory). I only ever performed one or two waterchanges and there was several thousand shrimps in there alongside a large colony of endler guppies and other fish less than 10cm in size. It was very heavily planted and wwhen I tore it down I found plenty of shrimplets and berried females so my shrimp must have adapted as time went by. I suspect it will depend on the lineage and history of the shrimps as to how your tank will go.

My RCS would have had the benefit to adapt over many generations from the initial 5 I purchased 1 1/2 years before I had to shut down the tank. You might find that they are slow breeding or that there is reduced shrimplet survival initially but after a few generations cherry shrimps might do very well in your water.

If you want the best chance at success it might be worth diluting your water with some rain or RO water. I think it can be gotten fairly cheaply from places like walmart over in the states.
