Hi Matuva,

Could this be the first record of an exotic species established in the wild in Australia? What's the locality?

I believe he is located in New Caledonia, so no confirmed exotics established in Aus yet.

Yes, New Caledonia

Ura, you should have to swin about 1500 kms east from Brisbane to reach my country ;)

My red / wine and white are now completely Black & White :(
I believe that when I shot the pictures, after one full night they spent in the tank, they were not completely calmed down and probably under some stress. Now that they are OK with their new home, colors are in full.

That being said, I like them though. I see one with a few red remaining at the bottom of the head. May be if they  breed, I could have some nice surprise with the F1 or F2?

Phew! That's good it's not in Oz. However, still a concern if in NC. No records yet so worth confirming and publishing. See my paper: Choy, S. & Marquet, G. 2002. Biodiversity and zoogeography of atyid shrimps of New Caledonia. Mem. du Museum national d'Hist. naturalle. Vol. 187: 207-222.
