duck weed need other plant to keep it stable at water surface

i got lot's of duck weed, so i will try only duck weed on 1 tank later,

  • 4 weeks later...

got melting issue from new tank, duck weed and water letuce cannot survive in new tank for 2 month, so i swap to frog bit and salvania for a while

maybe it's lack of nutrition, cannot use fertilizer/trace element because it's would harm the shrimp

so i cannot continue this journal for a while

will update again later,  thx

  • 1 month later...

hate to announce end of floating plant journal

i will change all my plant to salvania natans, the least melting problem and easy to manage

still fighting for melting floating plant

every morning i got new activity, trimming and throwing melting part of floating plant

change my principle from use lot of floating plant into use floating plant, but take out the melting part immediately, so having lot of floating plant could hinder finding the melting part

Sorry to hear about the end of the journal! it did look cool as above.

Have you thought about try with Hygroryza aristata? I recently got a piece with about 5 leaves, it has tripled in less than 2 weeks. Would be easy to remove, it has really cool roots though they grow quite long so would need to trim them to keep them in check which is the only down side.
