Aquael Filters

Has anyone on the forum ever used the Aquael internal filter? Filter I have in my 20l is really noisy so was looking at cheap internal filters, liked the look of the Aquael Turbo Filter 500 due to the sponge intake which is obviously going to be handy in a shrimp tank.

 

Anyone has experience with these? How powerful are they? Would one be too strong for a planted 20l with Shrimp?

I would say the 500 will be to powerful. I run a 2000lph version on my marine tank for mechanical filtration and it works well. On the down side the suction cups don't last long, I've replaced mine with aftermarket ones and the impeller makes some noise occasionally. The filter I run on a couple of 2ft doesn't have a brand name on it but here is a pic. It has adjustable flow and separate sections for mechanical and biological media.

Maybe someone will know the brand from the pic lol.

That's an AquaTopia filter Mick, the tank I am talking about with the filter noisey filter is an AquaTopia, not a bad little filter, just a little noisey at the moment that's all, can always buy another one of the same I guess.
