How come some red cherries have this pale stripe down the middle of their back, while others don't? What is it exactly? Tia :)

I'd like to know too. I'm not 100% sure, but I think this is a feature of male neocaridina. (happy to be corrected on this one)

Wouldent be entirely sure its not a stage between moults or a I the boss thing??? or even I just had a good feed?? hard one but I see a wide range of variations in the populations that can vary like Typus and Ninjas

Yeah same, makes it hard knowing what's a Red Cherry and what's a Chameleon in my tank, as the Chameleons do it as well.

I have had reds, yellows, chocs and wild types get this stripe.

I've heard that if a yellow gets the stripe it's a fire yellow. (unsure if it's true) i hope so because all my yellows have it lol.

There was a shop in Brisbane selling reds with the stripe as bamboo cherries lol.

I don't know where it comes from but it looks cool.

On a side note I have one tibee that has it as well but only occasionally.

I've had nearly every colour have that stripe in both males and females. Initially I thought it was only on mature shrimp but I've had it on juvies too. I've not noticed any that have it come and go though once they have a stripe it stays there.

I found it strange as well @ineke.

On the cherries it's there for life.

It could be a really long saddle lol

I have a lot of rcs with this feature I think it is more common on the older females or at least it's more visible in any case.

when i looked this up before I found out that it is actually a racing stripe and these ones go faster.
