Will CRS have better color by using LED or T5HO?

It's not so much the type of light that make a difference but the colour temp(kelvin). Bluebolts did an experiment a few years ago & posted a thread on it but I can't seem to find it

Yes I think Ineke posted a quote from that BB thread just a few days ago. 10,000K is ideal but 6,500 - 10,000 is adequate. This gets mentioned a few times in the Breeders n Keepers mags too.

this was the info I mentioned the other day

This quote from Bluebolts

There's several theories on light intensity/colour, vs shell thickness/colour. Ive noticed better shell thickness with 10000k, vs 6500k, whereas colouration (depth of red/black) would be more of a genetic trait/selective breeding. IMO, lighting between 6500-10000k would be ideal.

Good lighting is also responsible of biofilm...etc, which is a important food source.

This is the thread by Dean formerly Boss Aquaria
