Liquid ammonia

Gday guys and girls as with most things its a no no to cheat but is it possible to use a few drops of liquid ammonia to double check that the filter media iv squeezed into the tank is working properly before i stock it but on the other hand i dont want to put it in and destroy any goodness thats in there cheers guys im lost

Yep, just make sure its only ammonia that you are adding i.e. Unscented. The homebrand or no-name brands usually are unscented and cheaper too.

Make sure that you check for nitrite as well as ammonia. Just because there is no ammonia, doesn't mean that there will be no nitrite.

Cheers i just needed some reassurance lol iv definitely got the right one then. Yeah it should convert to nitrite pretty quickly as I've seeded the filter with bacteria

If your bacteria has no food source you should be feeding it ammonia anyway :p
