Glowing shrimp?

There was a recent article in the paper about a shrimp species found in an Australian river that had bioluminescence Anyone know more about it?

says they glow in the dark when dead. So isn't the first time glowing Paratya australiensis has been mentioned but you don't really hear about it so who knows.

That is interesting. Paratya "australiensis" is actually a group of distinct, "cryptic" species that are still basically undescribed. I have seen plenty of dead ones from southern populations and they didn't glow in the dark.

There were some shrimpkeepers in the area who were looking into it. I will ask if there's any updates.

If it's legit I think everyone will be scrambling for them.

I still want to hear from fishbeast in regards to his image description of them glowing when dead.

No update from my contact in the area, but my questions have spurned him on to continue asking about. How amazing would it be to have glowing shrimp in a setup?

Why are there no pictures of them in a tank, glowing? Would be something cool though if for real.
