so my new rack is at a point where I’m going to start a journal for it. as it sits atm its 6X 30cmx60cmx45cm tanks set up as 3 on top 3 at the bottom ( :mad:I went for 6x 1foot tanks rather then 2 3 foot tanks the extra few mm of tank edging means I can’t put the 6 on the same level  its legit like 3 mm and is doing my head in)

All the tanks are drilled in the base and will have stand pipes, so i can have the plumbing under the rack rather than at the back and have the rack hard up against the wall.  The return water will be run at the front for access and flow. Sliding lids and only enough gap to get air lines and return hose will help prevent escapees and they look great! They were built by a Brisbane tank builder as was the sump.

The sump is a 120cmx45x45 , it’s going to have filter socks then a chamber of noodles and clay balls, k1 chamber, then a chamber for things I might want to add to the sump at different times like carbon, Macropore, purigen and that kind of thing. I’ll probably put a some  Marine Pure in there too as  permanent fixture. The return pump is going to be an aqua medic dc runner 6000. I’ll be using my current chiller until I expand the rack then I’ll be upgrading to a teco 1000. Each tank will also have a sponge filter in it.

Love the thread name.

Can't wait till it's flooded and cycling.

+1 for Marine Pure. There is just so much surface area on those that it would make noodle equivalent bio media obsolete.

Cheers dude, it took me a while to settle on it :blush(or-fake-smile): .  I’m so keen to get some water in  them! but I’m taking my time and getting everything 100 first.

just ordered most of my fittings for the plumbing ( told you this would  be slow going) and wow does it add up quickly!  :shocked...again:

This is the first rack of this scale I’ve built so I kind of under estimated how quickly everything would add up! :gusta:

On the up side though, I’m doing the plumbing for the whole rack not just the 6 tanks I have in there at the moment. so when I do get the next 6 bays I’ll just have to drop the tanks in to their spot and turn on the water!

there ended up being 80 fittings! and i left a few out because i wasnt 100% on the size i needed / i couldnt get some from the site i ordered from.

the stand pipes are just pushed in, its a very tight fit. I havn't got the guards made yet but ive got ages to sort that with how long the ada will take to cycle haha

Very nice tanks and setup. Been toying with the idea of building a rack to house 6 of 2x15x15 tanks. Those tanks look schmick, especially those sliding lids. If you don't mind, could you please PM me who made those tanks and approximate costs? I'm in Brisbane too.

Need to find a way to pitch the idea to the the minister for finance of the house. ;-P

So finally some progress, green elements lights from age of aquariums! I need to lift the top tanks light up some how but the bottom tanks look great with the light mounted to the rack.

I've been adding ae bacter to these tanks to get some biofilm happening and it's really doing the trick! Iv also started to move some plants over, this is about as crowded as id like this tanks to get, I want them to be as bare bones as possible.

I also tested the water and it was basically what I expected from Amazonia soil, high ammonia! 2ppmish

Looking good. Cycling a tank requires so much patient. I would be so tempted to have some cherries in there... haha.

Nice look mini pellia too. I'll have to source out some when my tank is up and running.
