Most Wanted Shrimp

Shrimpy Daddy

Recommended Posts

Good day, everyone!!! ^^

I am planning to revamp one of my 120L cube tank during Christmas period (Yes, it sounds pretty no life. This is the consequences of moving to other country).

However, I can't make up my mind on what shrimp should I keep in this tank. Lucky for me, I am living in a country that I virtually able to obtain any type of shrimp in the world. Therefore, I am seeking opinion on what is the most wanted shrimp in your mind. (^_~)

Cheers.

Oh where do we start????

I actually don't envy you with the choices you have . there are so many beautiful shrimp out there that we can't get where would we even start.

I will be very interested to see what you end up with. Maybe you can put up some pictures of your choices then we can help you decide! Good luck and happy shrimping. :-)

The problem is I have no choices at this moment. :(

I have 11 tanks and I have all shrimps that I liked. I started this thread hoping someone can give me new idea.

If I knew you better I would say my heart bleeds for you !

I do know what you mean though I had 10 tanks to fill and it was sooo hard to decide!

Yes. I could put back the shrimps currently occupying that tank. But I was thinking if I am revamping, I might as well put in new type of shrimp. In addition, shifting the existing shrimp into 2 new environments within a month or so will definitely kill quite a few of them and I would like to prevent that.

I saw a store in Singapore selling spotted red pinto's and a tatibee they called steel blue from Germany.

If we could import shrimp into Australia I would get my hands on some of the above and PRL's.

I guess I'll have to be patient and wait until the aussie breeders create them and start selling. I am sure I have seen a few members getting there with the red pintos

Ah, I bet you don't have Darwin algae shrimp, Darwin red nose, or Chameleon shrimp.

Go native.

Sounds like you visited Aquarist Chamber.

I have been once but I go to Singapore often so I plan to go again soon.

Talking about Chameleon Shrimp my brother and I were quite lucky. We purchase 5 together and when I was in the car i noticed 4 were berried females. The other one of the females hatched a whole bunch of shrimplets lol. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks he will have a tank full :D

They look interesting. It is little be like baby lobster or stick insect.

Since they are originate from South East Asia, I may be able to see them in LFS. I will go try to find out.

In the second pic. The dark brown one with the light brown line up the spine is the mama inside the feeding tray. The shrimplets are just around the front hopefully its not too bad. Also have yellow cherries with these guys.

Any shrimp hey? Well it would have to be any of the Leptopalaemon species of shrimp from Kakadu (hint hint Dave at Aquagreen), but even we cant get those yet.

Other than that it would have to be any of the Sulawesi species.Or maybe one of the species that have been identified out of South America, probably because very few people seem to be keeping them.

Sulawesi shrimp is kind of overly catch right now, and I worry about the environment impact; just like a lot of bucephalandra gone from the nature. Hence, I am trying to avoid those wild catch type.

Silane claims that the blue cardinal is selective breed either in his or his friend's farm in Taiwan. Hence, I may look at the blue cardinal in Taiwan.

Fair enough. There should be more people like you who consider the environmental impacts of the demand they create by buying certain species.

I think everyone should do due diligent to check the source, and get shrimp and/ or plants from respectable sources. ;)

I'm also a brig fan of the red marble Tibees that have been surfacing lately, gonna try for something like that next I think.

Nice...

The orange eyes Tibee is not hard to get. I got it before. You just need to breed your Tibee back with OBET. But stabilizing the gene is the harder part.

I think the blue Sulawesi Dennerli are breeded from this kind of 'mutations' which happened because of inbreeding I guess.
