my setup

Due to numerous deaths in my cube, rather then going bust, I decided to go all out and upgrade to a high tech setup. Adam at Aquascapedesign had a ex demo for sale, so I picked that up to match my 3ft in my living room. The plan is to move prefilter/G3/chiller/heater over to the new tank, and let the sponge filter and UGF to maintain the filtration in the cube and go from there. Hopefully this tank can be up and running before summer arrives!

Filled the bottom with penac w, tourmaline bc and mosura old sea mud while waiting the Benibachi soil from Jeff. I ordered 10kg normal and 5kg powder, so hopefully that will be enough to create a 5-6cm deep substrate.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I'm thinking of getting a 2217 to split the flow between the gears i.e. the 2217 for the pre filter, heater and uv while letting the G3 handle the chiller alone as I'm not happy with the current flow with everything attached to the G3. But worried that might be too much flow

sweet cube, how big is it?
The tank dimensions - 600 x 450 x 450mm, bought it from here :)9A56A015-F34E-4503-A998-F0BB01B2F97E-5939-000007BC4F2F5FAC.jpg9CAE99A7-0B64-4FA7-B037-EFA31E588B2A-6017-000007D299256F44.jpgFinally received the soil from Jeff! I've started seeding a 2213 on the cube to prepare for the unplugging of the G3, but not sure whether I had some dirty stuff in it that i didn't clean out properly but I did a thorough wash but still had two deaths and some shrimplets missing the next day, might be hot tap water with chlorine :( Can't wait to start moving on the weekend! Next stage is picking the centrepiece driftwood which I'm still on hunt for!A4C6222F-28FF-45A1-820F-2F6AE40261E1-6017-000007DAC4FE9869.jpgalso, bought some bee pollen as per gbang's advice and recommendation B7FC1049-FCCF-49A6-A36E-DF79D9FDCEBD-6017-000007DBD72874BF.jpg152982C9-4DD2-4135-9CAC-8F1D61B41F05-6017-000007DBE57F30D2.jpgcurious shrimp checking out bee pollen for the first time lol

I picked up some bee pollen last week, have to say the cherry shrimp go crazy for it. The CRS/CBS don't seem as interested when it hits the water but they seem to eat it off of the filter sponges and mosses.

First time using powder soil, so fine! The shrimps are gonna have a good time in there lol, reminds me of the scrooge duck swimming in his money

Ready to fill the water once the 2217 I ordered comes, the plan is to hook the G3 to the chiller, and the 2217 will handle the prefilter, external heater and uv lights. I reckon these two should give me a pretty balanced and decent flow

Mini pellia I bought of a member at AL came in the post today, but it seems different to what I have. Are there different types of mini pellia? Or just different tank conditions?

It has been a few weeks now and I have done a couple of large water changes. I tested the water parameters this morning, GH6 and KH2, TDS 140 and PH 7.5. Obviously the PH is off but there isn't anything in the tank that should cause the PH to rise to this figure so I will just run the tank for another month with 10% weekly water changes (probably just with RO water) and see where we are at that point. The RO water tests at PH6, and the KH and GH in the tank could come down as they are at the upper limits for Caridina shrimps! There are only about 10 very small snails in there at this point, but they seem to be doing well enough.

I believe these to be very rare in Australia so you may even consider making it a longer term plan and produce your own by starting with the best CRS you can get as that is where the pure lines started! Depends how patient and interested in the project you are, but would save money as well? If I recall correctly it takes from 8 generations of selective breeding? They sell them at micro aquatic shop but do not ship to Western Australia, but that means they are available in Australia. https://microaquaticshop.com.au/products/pure-red-line-grade-ss-shrimp Good luck and just maybe smeone on here may point you in the right direction or be able to supply you with some.

Hi Guys,  Does anyone know where to buy PRL shrimps in WA, not the CRS please. Thanks Regards

Yes it’s super accurate to position where I want now and stay there- I am satisfied.  All the fish and shrimpers are doing excellent! Coming up on 4 years running!

You must be pleased with that, it looks better and is much more robust and less likely to damage or leaks! The tank looks very natural now it has been running for a time. I see the ember tetras, how are the blue shrimp doing, I see a few? The cat and dog look very content and unimpressed, lol.
