Are my RCS Mutating?

Today I noticed a tiny blue "RCS" when I was moving some of them. Other larger ones seem to have blue/grey shading in the tail.(see photo)

I've had these shrimp for about 3 years now with no attempt at line breeding ,just have them in various tanks for fun.

Can someone explain how this mutation comes about?

Thanks!

Red Rili Cherry Shrimp can carry the blue gene, as OzShrimp mentioned. It may be recessive and not show in the parents, but can show in subsequent generations.

We're the shrimps old to you as Rili or reds? The blues look great as shrimplets and as adults!

i have been getting low grade blue and green from my red's, i will be line breeding them to try to improve on the blue and the green, also shrimp tend to show some blue colour when stressed.

Hey newbreed.((Tried using the "quote" function but couldn't get it to work))

I bought 20 about 3 years ago as regular /common RCS & let them go "free range".
