A little rack never hurt anyone

My little rack consists of 3 600x300x200 tanks, for the moment I’m only going to be running cherry variants. I don’t have a chiller and the I don’t like my chances of getting one any time soon, the room there in isn’t the most stable for temp so I’m not taking chances with big $ shrimp ATM I might play with some a/s grade CRS later on when I’m happy with the system.

the 3 tanks are filtered with a very basic sump  that adds 1/3 extra water volume. I also have a big sponge filter in the occupied cell, I’m aiming to replace it with the stick on the side sponges soonish. I’m using fluval pre filter sponges to stop my babies going out the bulk head.

ATM I only have yellows in the fare right and I’ll be getting some snow balls for the centre tank very soon, I’m still undecided what I’m going to get for the left tank. I’m thinking Carbon Rili atm

I had a little break from shrimp since my move, but the yellows did better in their transition tank then they did in my scape . so I’ve taken that as a sign to not bother trying to breed shrimps in aqua scaped tanks and just put them in tanks designed for them. I’m not being fussy about cleaning the glass of algae, just keeping water quality tip top. trying not to put my hands in and just letting them do their thing.

Love the title for your thread.

What are your water parameters? Is that a plain gravel substrate? How many yellows do you have?

Looking good so far, keep up the good work.

Cheers guys, I didn't count them when I put them in but is say 15 rough guess, one of the girls was berries when I did the move so fingers crossed she didn't drop them. The substrate is insta shrimp soil.

Water parameters:

PH:7.2-.6

Ammonia: 0

Nitrites:0

Nitrates:around 0-2

It's still very early days and the other two tanks are just holding plants and moss, it all looks scrappy atm but with time I'll have them looking better :)

First off my snow balls, I found a berried girl in there today but didn’t have time to get a pic. im 99% sure its the big gal in the right hand corner haha

cheers guys, once the yellows have dropped all there bubs I think I’m going to have to either sell a heap or move them to a bigger tank, there are so many big girls heavily berried atm and it’s only a little tank.

atm I think I’ll just thin it out and cull off the dull ones, hopefully I can buy a new colour for the last tank with the proceeds of my thin out, I’m thinking rilis, maybe carbons or  blue gene reds. I have heaps of little snow balls just getting there first saddles atm so shouldn’t be long until I’m thinning them out too. : EMBARRASS :

Looks good buck when your ready to move a few along let me know would be nice to add another bloodline to my yellows

yeah bro will do!

Your shrimp look fantastic mate. Well done. Hope you have lots of little bubs soon.

thanks mate, I feel like I’ve let the colour wash out from the original ones I got  but that was mostly because I wasn’t as successful in my attempts to breed them, now that there exploding ill have heaps of choice so I’ll be able to cull hard and only let the best do their thing

Should be proud, funly enough i found yellows quiet hard to breed and keep alive considering their a cherry.

Cheers :) I just try to leave them to do there thing, the less I do the happier they are. I picked up a tds pen today and tested the tanks, both sitting at around 300ppm, so when I get my r.o unit up and running I can bring that down slowly and hopefully they will be even happier!

That's an amazing photo of the berried yellow cherry. What is she standing on? Looks like carpet.

That's the best part about snowball shrimp but, they look there best berried, so it's not even an issue waiting for them to drop it's an absolute pleasure watching them run around with there cluster of snowballs under them, it's win win
