Thanks guys! All going just fine haven't had any ammonia spike with levels safely under 0.02 ppm

This could be due to 60 percent water changes weekly and the use of a mature filter.

So hard to decide what type shrimp to keep in here, hahahaha

Have you got CO2 pumping in there......my vote will be to have a army of Snow White/GB....contrast would be awesome ?

SW/GB - 1

Yap, got the CO2 injections going. Might have to change to Excel for carbon dosing???

Lights on for 8 hours at 40 percent . I'll turn them to 50 percent with more plant mass soon.

You are on the right track mate.... SW would be a great idea. Recently I was thinking about some crown/ flower CRS....

They might not be as strong / vigorous as SW , thoughts?

Inspired to put some solid colour into my display I chose only dark red/blue cherrys to go into the Cade.

Although not solid red, I really like them. Hope you like them too.

Happy to report that all cherries in the Cade are fine.

Been a bit of a melt in the tank since not pumping the CO2 like I was during the cycle.

Got it set up a bit better with a bit more CO2 dissolving into the water column. The CO2 is currently at 1.5 bps

I have added a big sponge filter to the centre of the tank, this will allow a couple of things to happen.

Firstly create more flow in the tank with added air and make a good biofilm for shrimp to feed upon. We all know how much our shrimp like sponge filters.

I have added a container of crushed coral to the tank. This container is held on by suction cups and can be removed.

With this container I seemed to have stabilised my PH to 6.4 and 6.5

With the addition of CO2 it's always going to be a tricky one balancing the act between buffering soils and CO2 addition as well as providing the stability required for shrimping.

Great news...... Don't forget to post updated pics of your tank. Are you planning to pump CO2 24/7 ?

Definitely sounds awesome, can't wait to see the next round of pics! :thumbsu:

The CO2 valve is on a solenoid and will run 24/7

If there is a power failure both my CO2 injection and sponge filter will switch off.

Due to the small amount of CO2 remaining in the regulator I don't think there will be a chance of over gassing causing PH swing or suffocation.

Good sign.... First births in the Cade :-)

Looks like my best Endlers gave birth this morning. I'll get the SLR out and do them justice ;-)

Shrimp or snow globe ??

"You got a snow globe!!!" I am thinking what the f is a snow globe...... My wife is opening the parcel faster than I've ever seen anyone open something !!!!

Well the "snow globes" have arrived in to a life of luxury. Cheers for the shipment mate!

Come to think of it they deserve such a name as snow globe due to their white density.

Looking forward to them settling in.

Nice Black Bar Endlers mate!

I love the original black bar type. I don't keep them anymore but used them ages ago to develop my own colourful endler hybrids. At the moment starting to set a few strains. Lots of work and time just like shrimp keeping but lots of surprises along the way too.

This is what I did to my Black Bars ;-)
