  • 2 weeks later...

I have had an awesome week with the rack.

It has been running for a few months with the shrimp in and have had no berries.

I had noticed over the last two weeks some of the mischling girls (CBS type) were starting to saddle, but no berries.

Thought I'd post some pics of saddled girls for those who haven't seen them before. The saddle is within the red circle.

There white is not very solid, so easier to spot.

Now on Sunday morning one of the girls looked different, and a couple of the new boys were dancing about.

I quickly got my metacube in the tank and separated her and a KK boy. Didn't think he was old enough but he is now going to be a dad.

Also, I moved a large girl in from another tank and within seconds the RR boy was getting up close and personal.

The Dads to be.....

This was the Mothers Club meeting this morning...

So stoked with being able to time it right and be able to select and isolate the fathers.

The girls both seem to holding a lot of eggs, maybe this is why they took their time to berry.

More girls are in this tank now. I wasn't planning on crossing with Mischling but am so happy after months of inactivity to have some berries in the rack.

Will update pics once the bubs arrive. Now to keep everything stable and watch the WPs closely.

Thanks again BB for these wonderful new dads!!

This was my first time seeing the shrimp doing the deed, so now know what to be watching for in future.

Needless to say, I am so stoked!!!

Cheers for the comments guys! Just so wrapped with how this has finally come together.

The new shrimp from BB have made the difference and are captivating. Having a hard time leaving the rack, just want to keep watching. Lol

Woohoo, still another four girls in there ready to berry. Moved the KK boys out so only RR boy and possible BB boy in with them.

It's great now the fun is happening again.
