They're expensive because you can't import captive bred marine fish so they come in under the radar. They also do need a fair bit of work to raise them compared to most commonly bred fish. They importers can also control the price because prior to now, they haven't been bred in Australia. Mine were $200 for the pair, but none of the other varieties have been bred here. I don't think we have any designer premnas are in Australia. I'm defiantly going to get another pair when I can afford it.

Ok, I've finally decided to convert my juwel 120 into a marine tank.....damn you Squiggs and Matt_95....clowns / anemone are my wife's favourite combo, so after all these years of shrimping, perhaps she deserves a tank of her favourite fish.... So off to LFS to do some research, and see what I need to buy/add for the perfect conversion.... Any advise to brands, equipment (I love blinking lights and sounds), and knowledge would be great ......

The Juwel skimmer is ok if your biological load is going to be small with just a anemone and a pair of clowns, but if you start adding more coral then i don't think the juwel skimmer will be enough. another think to consider is that anemones love to go on walk about until they find a good flow spot and the Juwel internal filters would deff be a death trap for them so have a think about that as well. IMO for flow you can't go wrong with mp40 of mp10 waive makers and if your on a budget then the generic wmp40 and mwp20 are a good choice but carry a bigger in tank footprint.

Have you considered an overflow box and a proper sump? i have a basically new overflow and a couple of top of the line LED lights if you are interested. i set up a sps exclusive tank in a 620t tank but then bought a aqua reef 195 and now have all the conversion equipment used in the 620 that I'm not using.

I was allowed to upgrade to 30 tanks when I was breeding fish.

Only in the last 6 months have we spoken of upgrading the salt tank.

I would suggest removing the canister filter and just go with the wave makers, canister filters aren't ideal for marine aquariums as they trap detritus and can become a nitrate factory.

The clowns in your picture aren't platinum clowns, they're onyx perculas, they will be cheaper and easier to find than platinums. The only blue anemone that comes to mind are the carpet anemones, but they can get over three feet wide and I don't think your tank is that large? The easiest host anemone to start off with would be a bubble tip. They are most commonly green but you can also come in red and occasionally other colours.

I don't know much about skimmers, I maintain my water quality through weekly water changes and live rock. A skimmer won't be needed for your tank, but as Squiggle mentioned earlier in the thread, removing the skimmer from a skimmed tank can result in a crash as the bio filtration isn't strong enough for the extra waste.

Currently the only place you can get them from is Photon Flakes Clownfish, or any stores they have sold fish to, I believe they ship so they should be able to get them to you, they have clowns much nicer than mine but they do cost more. Prom memory the premium snowflakes are $500 a pair.

I love the way they swim, they seem to loose it though as they grow older :(

That is exciting! What type of snowflakes are you going for? I love the ones with the bullet holes.
