  • 1 year later...

Ok so i cracked this tank ( what a spanner) and it is hopefully being fixed tues-wed so iv stripped the broken panel out and cleaned all the silicone off (i now realise why the price doubles if the shop does it lol) but it got me thinking why set it up as it was when i can improve it so was just wanting to get opinions on how i can firstly improve the tank itself and then setup this tank to the best of its ability. My 2213 i couldnt have running in a bucket so iv had to make do with a dual outlet air pump with 2 air stones directly below the basket and this seems to be bubbling away nicely but is it really going to keep my filter semi mature at least or am i listening to an extra (really noisy) air pump for no reason. So far i plan to add a feeding tray (opinions on this plzzzz)boss min powder on the base then ada amazonia over that but is there anything else i should be doing to make this the perfect shrimp haven?

Cheers guys and i look forward to hearing your opinions

Ron

G'day Ron,

It was pretty bad to hear about this happening on the weekend. I was a bit worried you were going to lose more then you did but I am glad you are getting everything back on track.

I know this maybe too much but my new tank is almost completed and I will be able to pick it up in the next week or so. I wanted to offer you chance to give me your 20 best Rili's since you obviously don't have enough space for them in you 15L tank. I know this is a kind offer but you know anything for a mate! :gusta:

Anyways if you need anything let me know!

I see what you did there LOL out of any that will be kept cozy in 15L it would be the best 20 but thanks for the offer your too kind :). The culls are hopefully going to my bro then thats one breeder gone then Iv just got the bluer ones in the other breeder. So soon i might actually be able to get a net in the tank lol

Btw Shrimpy Daddy mentioned in a thread I made that it is better not to have a feeding tray.

It has been a few weeks now and I have done a couple of large water changes. I tested the water parameters this morning, GH6 and KH2, TDS 140 and PH 7.5. Obviously the PH is off but there isn't anything in the tank that should cause the PH to rise to this figure so I will just run the tank for another month with 10% weekly water changes (probably just with RO water) and see where we are at that point. The RO water tests at PH6, and the KH and GH in the tank could come down as they are at the upper limits for Caridina shrimps! There are only about 10 very small snails in there at this point, but they seem to be doing well enough.

I believe these to be very rare in Australia so you may even consider making it a longer term plan and produce your own by starting with the best CRS you can get as that is where the pure lines started! Depends how patient and interested in the project you are, but would save money as well? If I recall correctly it takes from 8 generations of selective breeding? They sell them at micro aquatic shop but do not ship to Western Australia, but that means they are available in Australia. https://microaquaticshop.com.au/products/pure-red-line-grade-ss-shrimp Good luck and just maybe smeone on here may point you in the right direction or be able to supply you with some.

Hi Guys,  Does anyone know where to buy PRL shrimps in WA, not the CRS please. Thanks Regards

Yes it’s super accurate to position where I want now and stay there- I am satisfied.  All the fish and shrimpers are doing excellent! Coming up on 4 years running!

You must be pleased with that, it looks better and is much more robust and less likely to damage or leaks! The tank looks very natural now it has been running for a time. I see the ember tetras, how are the blue shrimp doing, I see a few? The cat and dog look very content and unimpressed, lol.
