What are your Successful parameters

I thought we could use this thread to share/compare what parameters have allowed to successfully keep shrimp alive/breeding. For cherry shrimp I must admit I don't really worry about it that much, but for crystals I have tried a few different things and am now having success with the following:

Ph - 6.0/2

Kh - 1

Gh - 4

TDS - 100-150 (although I have not checked this in a while, faulty Tds pen)

Temp - 22c

My main tank has now had very good shrimplets survival rates in its last few months with a zero mortality rate (other than 2 jumpers, 1 yellow and 1 crs)

How about you?

i have quite a few tanks setup and a lot of different parameters.

i had crs/cbs in a tank breeding very successfully in the following

this was my most extreme tank before making it a cherry tank.

PH 8.2

KH 8

GH 12

never measured tds this tank was gold for them for a long time

now its a cherry tank the parameters are

PH 8.0-8.2

KH 8-10

GH 12-14

the cherry love this tank and breed like crazy.

i have other tanks all between these ranges

from PH 5.4 - 7.2 different tanks

KH 2-4

GH 4-8

tds 200-400

all breed very well and none better than the next.

the key for me has been stability in a tank and good amount of Green spot algae.

zero water changes and only top up of tanks.

Thanks Sprae definitely be getting one. I was looking at the cheapo TDS pens on ebay and most are around $10-$15. I was expecting $30-$50.

TDS 110-150 (depends if it is summer or winter)

ammonia nitrites 0

nitrates currently 0 but can get up to 5

temp 20 winter 24 summer

IMO I regard TDS as a critical parameter especially to water changes etc,...

Since being more aware of the potential fluctuations of TDS during water changes, I can't recall the last time I even notice a single death after a water change. I rely solely on RO water, as my tap water has a TDS OF 400+, and GH & KH is not condusive to breeding the shrimps I have .... Hope this helps ...

pH : 6.0

GH: 3-5

TDS 80

KH : 1 (but not important i think)

conductivity : 160-200 micro siemens

Neocaridina spesies ( red cherry, fire red, yellow, orange, snow ball, rilli)

pH : 6,8 (less acidic better)

GH :3-5 (not important as long as not too hard)

TDS : 80

KH: 1 (not important)

Caridina Serata ( Aura blue, tangerine tiger)\

pH : 6,5-6,8

GH : 3

Tds : 80

KH : 1

Taiwan bee ( red / black shadow, turquise, bkk, red wine, blue bolt)

pH : 5,8-6.0

GH : 3

Tds : 70

KH : 1

High oxigen dissolved via aerator, much breeeding sponge, dosing bacter powder every day.

all keep in temp 23-24 except neocaridina species can temp 25-26 is better, faster hatching time

to have high survival rate of shrimplets in my humble experienced, its better to move berrieds female to one special tank that don't have any male in it. It helps them reduce stress.

Another great insight Dake. Your TDS is quite low. Do you use RO water only? What TDS meter do you use?

I think berried female can easier get stressed in my brief experience. Unfortunately I don't have breeding tank.

I used RO water only for taiwan bee , my RO water parameter:

pH ; 5,5

GH :0

TDS : 0

KH : 0

condutivity : 0

After that dosing some mineral liquid to achive my water parameter for taiwan bee tank
